Captain Video (2)

Episode Number: 120    Season Num: 5    First Aired: Tuesday May 12, 1992    Prod Code: n/a
Believing that it's his only shot at a record deal, Jesse agrees to re-record his song with an Arabian genie flavor--a concept that doesn't suit Jesse when, during the shooting of the music video, he is forced to dress up in Aladdin-style apparel and dance around onstage. It doesn't take long for Jesse to realize that this isn't a good fit for him, but after he walks away from the deal, he fears that with a wife and two children to support, he may not have much of a choice. Fortunately, Jesse's musical career is one that's brimming with potential, and with the tireless support of the people he loves most (including a heartfelt sacrifice from 5-year-old Michelle), will he manage to stand tall and build his career in his own image?

Becky: Oh, Steph, you can't hang out in here. Jesse's getting his first dancing lesson.
Stephanie: I know. I've got a front row seat! (edit)
Joey: (counting Michelle's money) Okay, Michelle. One dollar and eighty cents. Sell one more cup of lemonade, and you'll have enough money to buy yourself that ant farm!
Michelle: Joey, please buy one more cup!
Joey: Michelle, I've already had 50 cups. I'm sweating lemon juice!
Michelle: You don't need to drink it. Just buy it.
Joey: Why didn't I think of that 49 cups ago? (edit)
Danny: Kimmy, go home. If you want to pass that test tomorrow, you're gonna need your sleep, okay? Buenos noches.
Kimmy: Oh, nachos! Great! I'm starving!
Danny: Maybe a couple more minutes of studying wouldn't hurt. (edit)
Joey: It's too bad you can't just buy your own record company.
Jesse: Yeah. Just a few bucks short, huh?
Michelle: You can have my ant farm money.
Jesse: (stunned) Sweetheart, that's the best offer I ever got! But you worked hard for that money. You keep that money, okay?
Michelle: But I love you, and you're more important than my ants. (turns to her jar of ants) Sorry, guys. (edit)
DJ: Kimmy, did you get your grades yet?
Kimmy: They just came in the mail. I passed Spanish! Isn't that muy awesome?
DJ: Kimmy, we're going to Spain! (they hug)
Danny: Let me see that, Kimmy. (looks at her repord card) Whoa, you got a D-minus. Boy, your parents must be very proud.
Kimmy: Yeah. My dad says that with grades like this, I'm on the fast track to Air Conditioning School! (edit)

Trivia

In this episode, Danny says that he used to wrestle back in school, and the kids called him the Human Pipecleaner. However, in Season 6's Starred Lovers and Other Tanners, Danny says that his wrestling teammates used to call him the Steel Stringbean. (edit)
In the scene where Joey is counting Michelle's lemonade money for her, look closely for the shot where Michelle's ponytail switches from the back of her head to the side. (edit)
Martha Quinn, who interviews Jesse for MTV in this episode, guest starred in the 6th season of the series as Alison Axelrod, Jesse and Joey's boss at the radio station (and the woman Joey had a crush on). (edit)
