1. "The Mirror" vs. "Future Tense" | 04/21/2006 4:00am
Which of these critically acclaimed episodes is your favorite? Even though I've come to understand why "The Mirror" is such an artistic success for the show, I can't deny my vote for "Future Tense." It had the greatest shock value of any episode/show I've ever seen. The twists, turns, and credibility stayed in my head for weeks, it was that powerful. Damn, they better release Volume 2 or it's going to be major boycott on Disney!

Both episodes are very good but I would also go with Future Tense. I loved everything about the episode, including the reference to x-men.

I'm betting you're anticipating X-Men 3 then?  I might actually go see it.  I've seen the other two films as well even though I'm not a big X-Men fan.

By the way, have you been to any of the Gatherings?

I actually haven't.  I've kept my passion for animation a secret from my folks and going on a "trip" to one of those places (if I can even get there) would take a lot of explaining...which would still end up in a no.  Did I mention I'm an easily lost person, it's a nightmare when I get lost on the road!  Plane would still raise me having to do some unsuccessful explaining as well.

That's just to much work to go to one anyway. I just watch the dvd, easy enough.

*Back to topic*

I liked the Mirror better. I figured our Future Tense too early and wasn't surprised at the end. I do like the effect that The Mirror had and the rest of the series by introducing Puck and adding a new dimension to Dimona's character.

The Mirror...

But my favourite is the one in Paris with MacBeth, Thailog and Demona.

I'd go with "The Mirror" just because "Future Tense", well, wasn't real. I never really got any shock value out of it. The only moment in that episode that I would say I really liked because it was really sad was when Broadway dies. His last lines are really touching. But besides that, "Future Tense" doesn't really interest me much.

Now, "The Mirror" is a good episode. It wasn't always my favorite one, but now it ranks in my top 5. I like it because what human wouldn't want to be a gargoyle for a night? Elisa looks cool as a gargoyle, the Manhattan clan was able to feel like they fitted in for a while, Elisa & Goliath's relationship went up a notch after this episode, and Demona is granted the ability to turn into a human during the day time. And most importantly, who could forget the introduction of Puck? The storyline was great. All the characters had great parts. Puck had wonderful lines exchanged with Demona. How could this episode not be considered one of the greats in this TV series?

Even though it wasn't reality, I'd have to go with Future Tense solely because it was more memorable for me. It was like a "What if" episode of Gargoyles.

Has to The Mirror, Puck added some extra humour that wouldn't have been there; plus the gargoyles became human! Who would have thought of that?
Future Tense was a good ep too, but I felt it could have been a two parter instead of rushing it.

Well Said! Yeah I totally thought it was so cool to see Elisa as a Gargoyle and the nice twist at the end when Puck made Demona into a human during the day. Humans as gargoyles and the gargoyles as humans, it was just a cool episode. And now that I'm older I acutally prefer the Mirror over Future Tense.

Yeah, I guess "The Mirror" is a get older, like it better kind of episode. I never REALLY liked it until I was about 16. Now, like I said before, it is in my top 5 favorites.

Considering that events from Future Tense has occured in some fashion and will continue occuring, I think it's more significant than many realize.

For one thing, we definately can look forward to The Ultra-Pack if the comic continues beyond #12. Infact, The Goliath Chronicles episode Broadway Goes To Hollywood was originally the planned introduction for The Ultra-Pack.
