    Friends
    Fresh Prince of Bellair
    Happy Days
    Baywatch
Party of Five (my favorite tv theme)

While Party of Five was still airing, I was always drawn in by the theme song and the promos (the ones that featured all of the characters, and even Sarah and Bailey as a couple). The music enhanced the show for some reason... it just fit it so well.

Oh, I forgot, Passions (the soap opera) has an AMAZING opening song. It's too bad they cut the song short lately. When the show first aired they constantly played 20-30 seconds worth of Jane French's "Breathe". It's beautiful.

I posted on here a while ago but I realized I left out a few really good themes. (I don't feel like listing names and artists, so it's just the show titles):

Scrubs, Sanford and Son, What's Happening, Andy Griffith, Drake & Josh, Psych, and Monk.

Monk, SCI:Miami, Veronica Mars, Grey's Anatomy, House........

But I kinda liked the theme song from Drive, too bad it got cancelled.

    Opinion on Theme Songs...

Music not written specifically for a show should not be considered a true theme song.  Hi-jacking a pop/rock song and playing it over the opening or closing credits SHOULD not be considered in this category.

Now that I have THAT off my considerably under-developed chest...

Wonder Woman, SWAT, Starsky and Hutch, Maude, Good Times, The Jeffersons, Knots Landing, Melrose Place, WKRP (duh, couldn't leave that out), all had GREAT true theme songs.

My favorite even though it's kind of silly That 70's Show.

According to MY criteria... That 70's Show theme doesn't qualify, it was a song first.

I'm not saying songs raped for tv shows don't actually fit the programs they're inserted into, just that it was too easy for the producer.  It reeks of laziness and cheapness, and gives the feeling that the theme was almost an afterthought to the production.  I'm a little bit old school, and I like the tunes written specifically for the show.

BTW, any Alan Thicke penned theme song should be extricated from history.

I'd actually been thinking about this today.

A3's Woke Up This Morning (Sopranos theme song) is hands down the best.

Freaks & Geeks, The Office, South Park, and Party Of Five (never seen the show...just really like the Bodeans) all have great theme songs too
