    I loved Isaac Hayes songwriting, his style, recordings and presence. Most of all I'll picture two things in my mind when I think of him: His Duke of New York in Escape from New York and his appearance with Garth Brooks, Ray Charles, Dionne Warwick, Queen Latifah and Burt Bacharach at the 2000 Oscars... somehow the dry-ice effect during his playing the theme from Shaft (with attending gogo girls) got a bit over-worked and cloaked Hayes entirely. Billy Crystal didn't miss a beat, as he cracked afterward: "How do you lose Isaac Hayes?" The performances and Crystal's reaction were some of my favorite all-time Academy Award moments.

    R.I.P. Isaac. He made a funny character on South Park and he will be remembered.

    Was a sad day! infact a sad few days with both Isaac and Bernie Mac passing away!

    Ike's music was a stpale in my house ...and I have been playing the Chocolate Chip lp and Joy just baout everyday since his passing.

    RIP Ike!!!

    His death and Bernie Mac's death has given me the feeling that the year 2008 and the movie Soul Men are cursed.

    Or maybe Im just paranoid. Or could be both or neither.
