It depends. Both are very enjoyable experiences. But I wouldn't stop watching a show just so I could wait for the DVDs. I do, however, like watching shows/seasons I've never seen before on DVD. I watched all of 24 that way.

I'll also add that watching them on TV is nice for catching captioning goofs and production errors like if they aired the same segment twice or cut stuff, and would have later corrected on the DVD.

Hmm, I don't know. It's not an either/or proposition to me. All of DVD's vast advantages have been well-listed here. But, I wouldn't not watch a first-run show that I was really interested in to catch it later on DVD. Plus, there's plenty of stuff out there that I'd waste an hour on watching for (relatively) free on tv that I wouldn't waste a dime on for the DVD.

But DVD just can't be beat for catching up on shows that you 'always meant to watch' and great commentary, alternate scenes, and extras are wonderful. Plus, biggest advantage...NO COMMERCIALS!!!

I like watching a tv series on DVD best because you get the whole story start to finish and you dont get the commercials!

I think some shows almost need the commercials to work effectively. A show like 24 has tons of mini-cliffhangers, and if you cut right to the resolution in 3 seconds, you actually lose a little of the drama and the "curse them, I want to know what happens now!" factor that I consider a part of the fun.

Dvds, No commercials, uncut episodes, crystal clear picture, whats not to like. My favorite show is CSI, on dvd it's in letterbox and 5.1 stereo, until 2 years ago our cbs station wasn't even in stereo .

Ditto! Why sit through commercials, when you don't have to? Plus the DVDs usually have extras on them.

DVD's are alot better to watch tv shows on cause you can watch them as many times as you want you don't have to watch any commercials. I hate taping a show and then you have to rewind through every sing commercial break. Plus the special features on DVD's are always fun to look at.

On DVD I suppose. But I'll only wahtch it on DVD when it's already out, and they are before me. Like with Alias, I just started watching it ( they don't air it here ) and in America they're already in season 5. So I can't watch it on tv, and I can catch up before I'm on track with America. I won't wait for DVD's while the show is on tv. When it's on I'll watch it.

neither......its all about downloading its cheap or free you get NO adverts and if you want the cliffhanger effect keep up to date and download a show the day after its shown and then you get to watch it weekly.....perfect solution!

I buy DVDs a lot, and TV series sets are always among the cheapest DVDs. The TV DVDs I buy usually cost around $6 a disc, way cheaper than full-priced DVDs. So I don't agree that price is a big problem with TV shows on DVDs.
