For his role as Dracula in the film Dracula 2000, Gerard spent nearly 9 hours each day having the makeup applied, which included contact lenses and fake fangs. Unfortunately for Gerry, the fangs did draw some blood.... his own! (edit) During his audition for The Phantom of the Opera, Gerard had to perform the signature song "The Music of the Night" for Andrew Lloyd Webber. Gerard says he wasn't nervous until he realized that Webber was going to be at the audition. (edit) Gerard's prosthetic makeup for The Phantom of the Opera took between 3 and 4 hours to be fully applied. Although he understood the importance of the makeup for the character to come to life, he admits that he hated wearing it. (edit) After his breakout performance in 300, Gerard Butler was named as one of Entertainment Weekly's 'Entertainers of the Year: 25 Top Stars of 2007'. In addition, People Magazine named him 'Sexiest Man Alive'. (edit) His name is pronounced "ger-ERD". He gets annoyed when people pronounce it as "ger-ARD." During interviews, he always tells the reporter to call him 'Gerry'. (edit)

Gerard Butler: I think there's a part of you that always imagines that if you encounter success , every fibre of your being will change. You know your whole cellular structure will change. And you will suddenly think and feel and behave like a different person . . . And you don't.
(edit) Gerard Butler: I love nutty roles; those roles that you can climb into and give a lot of color too. It might be some off-beat wacky, low-budget script, and I might just say 'oh my god, I have to do this.' (edit) Gerard Butler: (on why he trained so hard for his role in "300") I wanted to look really strong. I've seen so many actors play these kinds of roles, and you see all this equipment on either a big belly or skinny little arms. That was a great thing, to put on that cape and put on that helmet, and not have to think, S**t, I should have trained more. Instead, I was standing there feeling like a lion. (edit) Gerard Butler: No matter what you have to go through and what you suffer, when you have true love, you can put up with anything. (edit) Gerard Butler: I was smoking a huge amount and having real bad premonitions and then I got this role where the guy dies of cancer. The film P.S., I Love You made me contemplate death and realize I was playing Russian roulette with my health. I've since stopped smoking. (edit)
