The Dark Spirit known as "Wide Brim" is now know as Romano, a person that the Dark Spirit took over in 1939 so that he could convince 115 people to kill themselves, and collect their souls. (edit)

The Google-like search engine that is used to trace Melinda is called "Penthius," after a character from Greek playwright Euripides' "The Bacchae." The name "Penthius", more often spelled "Pentheus," is from the Greek "penthos" meaning "sorrow." The name was meant to foreshadow his violent death, triggered by the god Bacchus, who resented Pentheus' moral stand. (edit)
