Trivia

In the scene where Sookie tells Lorelai and Rory the different desserts that she baked for the Chilton bake sale, she splits the desserts different tables. There is French Fantasies, American Treats, and Italian Taste Sensations. If you look closely, you'll see she had creme brulee on the Italian Taste Sensations table even though creme brulee is a French dessert. (edit)
The song that Lane is dancing to in Rory's room is also heard later in the series when Lane's band plays it. (edit)
This is the first episode where Sean Gunn appears as Kirk. He previously appears in "The Lorelais' First Day at Chilton" as the DSL guy named Mick, and in "Kill Me Now" as a nameless swan delivery person. In this episode he speaks to Patti as a stranger, though in later episodes we learn Patti was his dance teacher as a child and has known him for at least 20 years. (edit)
When Rory is getting onto the bus there is a man and a woman following her onto the bus. The scene then cuts to Rory showing the bus driver her pass and you can clearly see Dean behind her but the other two people never get on the bus. (edit)
In this episode, the cat Cinnamon is referred to as 'she', but in the previous episode was called 'he'. (edit)

Miss Patty: Fresh fruit always has such a... a sensuality about it....

There is a similar scene in the classic 1978 movie Animal House where Otter tries to pick up Dean Wormer's wife at the supermarket using fresh vegetables' "sensuousness" as a prop to start the conversation. (edit)
Lorelai: Life is a funny funny thing, huh?
Sookie: Yeah, I love that Jim Carrey.
Lorelai: What?
Sookie: Jim Carrey. He's just -- he's just -- funny.

This is a reference to the actor Jim Carrey, who first became popular in the 90's from his work on In Living Colour. In the last decade he has become a highly paid movie actor mainly due to his turn in lead comedic roles. (edit)
Sookie: Oh. Very serious face. Jean-Paul Sartre.

Jean-Paul Sartre is a French novelist, philosopher, and existentialist (edit)
