Madeline: I find your mother completely fascinating.
Rory: Funny. So does she.
Madeline: It's almost more like having a big sister.
Louise: And you like her, don't you?
Rory: She's my best friend.
Madeline: Truly, completely fascinating. (edit) Lorelai: (Looking for Madeline and Louise) Hi, I was wondering if college boys live here or friends of college boys and if they had...
Woman: I don't talk to people. People annoy me! (Slams door)
Lorelai: Okay. (Keeps knocking on doors)
Paris: She's going to knock on every door in the building, isn't she?
Rory: Yup.
(Sookie knocks on a door, and a dog barks loudly)
Sookie: Aah! Let's follow your mother!
Paris: I wonder if I was missing if my mom would come looking for me like that.
Rory: Paris, you know she would.
Paris: Yeah. Or at least she'd send somebody. (edit) Lorelai: (after tracking down Rory's classmates Madeline and Louise, who left the concert and went off with some guys) I am not even gonna begin to tell you two how stupid it is to go off with people you don't know, or to drink from a cup when you don't know where it came from, or to pretend you have a clue when you don't. But so help me God, if you ever pull another stunt like this, it will not happen in front of my kid. Understood? (edit) Madeline: Do you think your mom is sorry she got pregnant so young?
Paris: Of course she is.
Rory: Gee, thanks.
Paris: I didn't mean it that way, I just meant--
Rory: I mean, I don't think she'd recommend it, but I think she's happy with the way things turned out.
Lorelai: (walking in) I am?
Rory: Yes, you are.
Lorelai: Okay. Just checking. (edit) Lorelai: (from the kitchen) Ah! There's a man in my kitchen, somebody call the constable.
Luke: (coming into the living room. Lorelai following) Your mom’s a fruit cake.
Lorelai: Fruit cakes by the door please.
Luke: Good bye Rory, I wish you luck - (looks at Lorelai) with everything.
Rory: I appreciate that. (edit)

When Lorelai runs into Luke at the town rummage sale, he is very happy about his newly acquired sushi refrigerator magnets. However, in "21 is the Loneliest Number," Luke is completely unfamiliar with sushi. In that episode, Lorelai eventually tells him that it's all raw fish and just to dip it in soy sauce and swallow it really quickly. It is strange that in this episode Luke was so excited about purchasing a magnetized replica of a food he is unfamiliar with and does not even like.
(edit)
Lorelai offers to give Rory, Paris, Madeline, and Louise the four concert tickets that Sookie got, and Lorelai says that she and Sookie will just buy cheap seats somewhere else when they get there. Even considering the sweet and agreeable person that Sookie is, it's unusual and insensitive that Lorelai wouldn't even ask her first if this was okay, since Sookie was the one who got the tickets in the first place.
(edit)
Audiences learn from this episode that Luke had a serious girlfriend named Rachel six or seven years ago, and that she broke his heart. This sounds like it could easily be Anna Nardini, whom we meet in Season 6, and if you recall, Luke and Anna were said to have been together around the same time that Luke and "Rachel" were supposedly dating. By the end of the 7-year-long series, it's heavily implied that Anna was the only major relationship that Luke ever had (aside from Lorelai, of course), so who exactly was Rachel? She is never mentioned again after this episode, so we never find out. Correction, Rachel returns to Stars Hollow in episode 16 of this season and stays for a few episodes, so we do in fact find out who she is.
(edit)
Goof: During the first part of the scene where Lorelai is mending clothes for the rummage sale whilst talking to Sookie about Rachel, the end of a microphone can be seen above Lorelai's head.
(edit)
Brandon Routh who will play Clark Kent/Superman in 2006 Superman Returns, is one of the college boys that the girls meet at the concert and invite back to their apartment for a party.
(edit)
Sookie: (to Lorelai) Did you ever see Everest?
Everest is a 1998 movie about the climbing of Mount Everest. (edit) Louise: Are you two still Joanie Loves Chachi?
Joanie Loves Chachi is the TV spinoff of Happy Days. (edit) Louise: So how good of a kisser is Paul Bunyan anyway?
Paul Bunyan is a mythical giant lumberjack from a tall tale. (edit) Sookie: She loved to climb things and fling herself off of cliffs and dive into these really tiny lakes and ride big wild horses and fly planes.
Lorelai: So she was Wonder Woman?
Wonder Woman is a female superhero who wears a leotard, carries a lasso and flies an invisible plane. (edit) Paris: So unless you want to sit on no furniture while watching three Harvey Fierstein impersonators rip up the carpet and paint everything a ridiculous shade of white and call it 'angel's kiss' then we're going to have to find somebody else's house to go to.
Harvey Fierstein is an actor known for his semi-autobiographical play and film Torch Song Trilogy. He is also a drag queen and columnist on gay issues. (edit)
