  • During the first dinner scene with Emily, Rory asks if the dining room chairs are new, and Emily replies that she got them at an antique store up in Maine. This leads us to believe that she was actually there in Maine to get them. However, during the 6th season finale, Partings, Emily is talking to Christopher at dinner and says, "Lynnie just moved here from Maine. Isn't that interesting? I've never been to Maine..." edit »
  • At the end of the episode you can see the shadow of a hand quickly pushing the door of the inn to make it fall. edit »
  • Lane keeps referring to "her parents," however her dad is never mentioned and he is never shown. edit »
  • When Lorelai and Rory go to Luke's after Friday night dinner, Luke says he's going to put on a new pot of coffee. Rachel talks to Lorelai for about two minutes and then Rory arrives with coffee. Wasn't that awfully quick for Luke to load and finish a new pot? edit »
  • When Lorelai comes down from Luke's apartment, Luke allows her to be behind the counter. However, in a later episode when Luke and Lorelai has started dating, Lorelai goes behind the counter and Luke freaks out. He tells her she isn't allowed behind the counter because his insurance won't cover her if something happens. edit »
  • German episode title: "Zimmerservice", meaning "Room Service". edit »
  • Edward Herrmann (Richard) does not appear in this episode. edit »
  • Music:
    - "Child Psychology" by Black Box Recorder edit »
  • The abandoned inn that Rachel finds, is the family house that was used in the 1972-1981 CBS TV series The Waltons. The house (or inn) has quite a history on television, as it was also used in other TV series including Mayberry R.F.D and the series finale of Lassie that aired in 1971. It has been modified several times. edit »
  • Lorelai mentions that she once played a Prince song for her mother, who nearly had a stroke. This is based on an incident from series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino's youth. edit »
  • (Kirk clears his throat)
Lorelai: Oh hey, Kirk. You gettin a cold? You know, you should try that Dyna-Meda-Chema-Themytol. Knocks it right out. But don't drive a forklift though, cause it'll make you drowsy. edit »
  • Emily: (about Michel) What a charming man!
    Rory: Uh...okay. edit »
  • Rachel: I might consider doing the whole mom thing if I could be guaranteed that I could get one just like her.
Lorelai: Oh you can, you just have to go to Sears. edit »
  • Rachel: So, I'm developing my pictures from the Firelight Festival. Some amazing stuff, and I'm thinking maybe there's a book here, faces of small town America.
Lorelai: Ah, you should feel safe, you don't live near these people?
    Rachel: Exactly. edit »
  • Lorelai: So, what time does the judgmental express arrive?
Rory: Grandma gets here at noon. edit »
  • Lorelai: It would be like the first fifteen minutes of Saving Private Ryan, but at least those guys got to be in France.

The first scene of the film Saving Private Ryan shows in graphic detail the first wave of U.S. troops at the Normandy invasion being machine-gunned down by German troops. edit »
  • Rory: Can I ask you a question?
Lorelai: Yes, I would date Steven Tyler.

Steven Tyler is the lead singer of Aerosmith. edit »
  • Lorelai: I don't know exactly what's going on in Rachel's head because I'm not a Vulcan.

Lorelai is referring to the ability of Vulcans to "mind meld" with each other. edit »
  • Lorelai: (to Emily, who is wearing sneakers and white socks with her suit) What's up, working girl?

This is a reference to the 1988 movie Working Girl, in which Melanie Griffith's character habitually travels to and from her office job wearing such an outfit, changing into more appropriate shoes when she gets to work. edit »
  • Rune: (to Michel) Yeah, well build us another statue.

Rune is referring to The Statue of Liberty in NY which was given to the USA by France. edit »
