Rory gets her first kiss, runs right over to tell Lane, but doesn’t tell Lorelai. Turns out to be a bad move. Unfortunately, Mrs. Kim overhears the tale and none-too-gently shares it with Lorelai when she shows up at the antiques shop. Lorelai is upset that Rory didn’t share the big news with her, and she tries to get Rory to tell her by dropping hints heavy as anvils, but Rory doesn’t bite. Eventually Lorelai has to come right out and ask Rory.

Later, while the girls are out and about picking up supplies for a night of junk food and video watching, they two of them run into Dean at the store where Lorelai does a very good job of not making an idiot of herself as Rory feared she might. But give her a couple minutes, because then Lorelai has the bright idea to invite Dean to the video party. Dean shows up, meets the neighbors, eats some pizza, watches the video – and listens to Lorelai lay down the law.
