Lorelai and Luke wait to discuss there new relationship, Rory deals with sleeping with Dean. Great opener, liked how it picked up right where it left off. hide show

The start was interesting, seeing Dean's point of view in the situation. Rory is acting extremely childish in her actions, very naive of her really. Lorelai has a right to be mad because what she has done is wrong in many ways. I couldn't believe that they did it again the next day, that scene with Lane was funny though.

Dean picks a fight with Lindsey because she answered his phone but later, at the end he seems alright with her. Rory also is strange has she avoids his call and accepts Emily's offer to go to Europe to basically get away from him. That lunch scene was brilliant, how Lorelai slipped the word 'affair' in, but things aren't good between the mother and daughter.

Emily's horror at the beginning of the episode was very entertaining, the first time we really see why there relationship is going downhill. It was hilarious to see her climb down the window while having an argument with Richard, plus security arriving was amusing.

As for Luke and Lorelai, its great as there basically going together. Him leaving five messages or more was funny, I liked Sookie's excitement at them kissing. Can't wait to see them be a couple. As I said, great opener.

luke and lorelai's relationship blossoms and rory and lorelai are well...ok. lorelai's mad because rory slept with a married man. namely..dean. but lor/luke start their relationship dispite taylor's views of their "co-mingling".. hide show

i love this episode. because lorelai and luke finally start a relationship together. rory sleeps with dean whose well lets just say.....not really available. he's married to lindsay but comes to rory saying its not working and its just not going to work. and they end up sleeping together. lorelai gets a surprise when jason comes to the test run begging her to talk. she refuses and luke gets madf when he finds out jason and lorelai were seeing each other. but dispite that, luke ends up kissing lorelai and she kisses him back!! when suddenly they are interupted by a screaming naked kirk. this all happens in seaon 4 and is resolved in season 5. luke and lorelai talk about the kiss and decide its a good thing and lorelai tells it like it is to rory about how she feels about rory and dean which didnt do much good because rory goes off to find dean and it results in another "incident" with him in miss pattys. and lorelai's way confused and very happy with luke.

Season 5 begins. There is fight everywhere and a new relationship emerges... hide show

And the plot thickens, last season's episode ended with Lorelai finding out about Rory and Dean and now we get to see the what happened before she came home.
This whole season begins with problems, Lorelai and Rory, Emily and Richard.
When Emily climbed out the window, she even took the skirt off!!! I almost fell off the chair.

And Luke and Lorelai, those two kisses, it's the beginning. So many things happening at the same time.

The Inn opening was great, Emily and Richard spliting up, Lorelai and Rory fighting because of all the Dean situation, Lorelai and Luke, Rory going to Europe, Luke going away.
    It's trouble everywhere.

I found very sweet of Luke leaving those five messages to Lorelai letting her know where he was going, why, how to call him.

Rory won't talk to Lorelai. It is decided that Rory will go to Europe with Emily. At first, Lorelai is too distracted to talk to Luke about their kiss; Luke gets the wrong idea. Finally, Lorelai calls Luke and sets him straight. hide show

Rory is just being a teenager here. Lorelai is totally right. She did not raise Rory to sleep with married men. What was Rory thinking?! Obviously, she wasn't. I don't really believe that the Rory we've known for years would suddenly do something so stupid! Lorelai is totally right in her reaction and she is a GREAT mom to try to support her daughter no matter what while trying to redirect her intentions. I think sending her away with Emily right now is a good idea!

I hate that Lorelai becomes too distracted to talk to Luke after her run-in with Rory. I do understand it, but she should have told him something. I am so glad Sookie pointed out to Lorelai that she needed to make sure Luke knew she wanted him too. I felt so bad for Luke while he didn't know what was happening with Lorelai. But their conversation, when she told him what she thought about their kiss - that was amazing! I loved her reaction and then his reaction. This conversation made the episode so fantastic for me! Luke and Lorelai are amazing together!

  • In the very beginning, as Dean exits the Gilmore house, a man's reflection is clearly visible in the glass on the back door. []
  • Luke leaves a phone message on Lorelai's answering machine telling her that his cell phone number is (860) 294-1986. However when Lorelai dials his number, after the initial beep to activate a call, there are 11 number tones instead of 10.

Correction: There SHOULD be 11 tones, because you must dial 1 before you dial the area code of a number that's outside of your area. []
  • In episode 4x22, Lorelai goes to her house to fetch band aids. How ever, when she returns to the inn in this episode, she asks Luke what happened to Kirk. If she didn't know about Kirk landing in some rose bushes, what were the band aids for?

Explanation: It's possible that something else happening at the inn made Lorelai realize that they didn't have any bandaids, so she went home to get some. []

  • (After dropping Rory at the airport, Lorelai gets home and has some voice mail messages from Luke)
Luke: Hey it's me. Listen I got a call from my sister and TJ, they are up in Maine and they got into a little accident. Nothing too major, just each one of them broke an arm and a leg. So anyhow, they can't run the Renaissance fair booth for a couple of weeks. So they asked me to come and help them out, and I, unfortunately, answered the phone, so I'm on my way to Maine. I'll be back in about a week. OK? Bye.
    Lorelai: Great...
    (Message number 2)
Luke: Hey it's me again, I'm not sure we are at the point in this relationship where you actually need to know that much information about my whereabouts. So if we're not, I'm sorry. I could have just said, "I'm going out of town, and I'll call you later." So I'm going out of town, and I'll call you later.
    (Message number 3)
Luke: It's me again. The idiot that leaves you three rambling messages on your machine. I just wanted to tell you I got a cell phone before I left so... You know you could call if you want, but only if you want so... That's it.
    Lorelai: AH! (Frustrated)
    (Message number 4)
Luke: Yeah number might be good.
Lorelai: Thank you. (She writes the number down)
    Luke: 860-294-1986. OK bye.
(Message number 5, she is finishing writing down the number)
Luke: Just...don't change your mind until I get back, OK? OK, talk to you later.

  • (Emily sitting on the couch; Lorelai notices her)
    Lorelai: Oh! My God!
Emily: My, what a lovely greeting.
Lorelai: How long have you been sitting there?
    Emily: Ten minutes. Why?
    Lorelai: You scared me.
    Emily: Like I'm Dracula.
Lorelai: My God, my heart won't stop pounding. []
  • Lorelai: I'm not shipping you off.
    Rory: Oh, please!
    Lorelai: I'm not. I'm just...okay, maybe I am.
    Rory: Ha!
Lorelai: I wasn't planning on it, but maybe in the back of my mind, I just thought...
Rory: ...Say Goodbye to Daisy Miller.
Lorelai: Okay, fine, so maybe I suggested the trip to give you some time to...
Rory: Travel back to the turn of the century?
Lorelai: To think...but you did not have to accept.
    Rory: I did too.
Lorelai: No, Rory, you didn't. You're 19 now, remember? You're all grown up, and you can handle your own affairs. Sorry. That's a bad choice of words. You can handle your own life events, so if you didn't want to go to Europe, all you had to do was say you didn't want to go, but you didn't, so I assume you do want to go. You do want to go? How come? I mean, what about Dean? You're just gonna go off and leave now? []
More Quotes
  • Sookie: Hey! It's a party. What's everybody doing up?
Lorelai: Aw, hey, good timing, Squiggy.

Squiggy was a character from the show Laverne and Shirley. His character, along with Lenny, were known for making an entrance. []
  • Emily: We'll have a wonderful time you and I. It'll be just like Gigi.

Gigi is the name of a Lerner/Lowe musical (later movie) about a young Parisian girl being groomed to be a courtesan at the turn of the century. An ironic comparison considering the Rory/Dean thing that's going on. []
  • Lorelai: (to Luke) Well, if it isn't Dean Moriarty.

Dean Moriarty is the protagonist in Jack Kerouac's novel On the Road. []
