Andy "Fish" Troutner (Kieran Culkin) hopes to join the cool crowd as he enters high school. His father (Joe Flaherty, "Freaks and Geeks") is a brain surgeon, surprisingly without much of a brain, and his mother (Molly Cheek) is a happy homemaker who doesn't like to make waves.

Fish shares his daily life with his two best friends, the wise-beyond-his-years Henry Krakowski (Kyle Sabihy, "Hiller & Diller") and Hazard (Taylor Handley), a personality defined by his name alone.

Also populating Fish's world at school are his older brother Pete (Will Friedle, "Boy Meets World", "The Random Years"), a recent college grad who joins the teaching staff; the oddball drama teacher, Mr. Hopkins (Andy Dick, "NewsRadio", "Sammy", "Less Than Perfect"); and the attractive English teacher, Miss Eastwood (Kristin Lehman, "Century City").

But the lovestruck Fish's most difficult hurdle will be to catch the attention of the beautiful Jess Riley (Katherine Ellis) -- who barely knows he exists.less «
