  I've seen a very few episodes of The Goldbergs, a Jewish ethnic sitcom that preceded I Love Lucy, though unfortunately would end up but a footnote in TV history, while Lucy would become an American icon. It was a warm show about a warm, trusting Jewish mother. Series star Gertrude Berg was perhaps the first female radio and TV star, and the first female mogul as well. It is very sad that one of the stars, Philip Loeb, committed suicide during the show's production after being blacklisted. I'll be looking for this show on DVD, even if it's only those sold cheap. less «
