Which ones have you tried and have liked or improved.
I personally have tried the Eclaire one and the cheese cake. The Eclaires failed miserably but I'll try again. The Cheese cake though.... damn that is some good stuff. |

I've tried the baked apples with oatmeal topping. It's simple, but still one of my favorites.

I have tried the pot roast recipe that had the olives and tomato juice. It has become a family favorite. The only change that I made was to put mushrooms in it instead of the raisins. I have also used the basic waffle recipe and it was really good. I love Alton!!!

I tried the chocolate peppermint rolled cookies. They looked really ugly (I made them too big), but tasted really good.

That's hilarious, my husband has had the pate a choux (eclairs) and cheesecake episodes saved on our TiVo for almost two years. Must be a guy thing - although I've had the two tenderloin episodes saved for quite a while, since I haven't made it to Costco or Sam's to pick up a PISMO. My husband keeps insisting he's going to try making eclairs and cheesecake when he has some free time. I tried the buttercream, it came out like soup. I wish I knew what I did wrong. It was tasty soup, but it was soup. I've done the chewy and puffy chocolate chip cookie recipes, those were good. The pan-seared ribeye is very tasty, but it sets off my smoke detectors every time. If I turn on the exhaust fan and put fans in the windows, I can keep it to only a couple of minutes of ear-splitting. The broiled butterflied chicken is good, and the technique for cooking it (using a bed of celery and carrots to keep the bird out of the bottom of the pan) is good for turkeys too. I've used the techniques from Churn Baby Churn for making ice cream, but I have a couple of seriously tasty ice cream recipes that I can't seem to get away from. Hmmm, it's awfully hot outside... I already had the recipe for Sawmill Gravy, but the techniques in the episode taught me how to make it without lumps. My husband has made the meatloaf - that is some seriously good stuff. It makes rockin meatloaf sandwiches the next day, too. I've done Honey Plums with peaches instead of plums. I'll probably do plums later this summer, on the grill. The crepes are really good. The Crepes Quiche Lorraine was...interesting. My husband liked it a lot. I thought the mac and cheese was bland. Next time I'll add more cheese, a little more salt, and more onions. The souffle makes a very light and fluffy dish, but it was kind of bland too. I haven't played with it enough to decide what to do to bring the flavor up. The stuffed tomatoes were really good. Tip: Don't use gorgonzola cheese instead of the goat cheese, it overwhelms the flavor of the mushrooms and tomatoes. The chocolate peppermint pinwheel cookies dough was yummy, but I thought the cookies were a little dry. The grilled leeks are good. Needless to say, I enjoy the show and I get a lot of inspiration from it. We try new food at least two to three times a week in our house, so Good Eats is an excellent source of ideas. |

I tried the pancake recipe, even following instructions to make a big batch of mix and keep it in a sealed container. It performs exactly as he claims it should - rises well, has a great texture and great taste.

I made the acid jellies from the halloween candy episode, fruit tarts from the puff pastry episode.
I made those salmon turnovers but I used cherry pie filling instead of the salmon. The creme brulee was tasty too. |

We do the 'Good Eats' Turkey every year for Thanksgiving and the sugar cookies from the 'The Cookie Claus' are the best sugar cookies I've had.

I've tried numerous of the recipes from the show, but I think that the ones that stand out the most were the fruit cake and the egg nog. They were perfect for the Holiday season.

I've made several of his recipes but the best I've tried is the cheese cake... the cheese cake is out of this world good. It takes a long time but as AB says, "Your patience will be rewarded."

I tried to brine some porkchops, but i used too much salt and not enough water. They were very tender, but they weren't edible all you tasted was salt. I had to throw them away.

I never ate meatloaf even though my wife tried to get me to eat it. But once I saw how AB did his, it has become a staple in our house. It is especially good eaten cold on a sandwich with mustard, thinly sliced red onion and lettuce. (Making me hungry) |
