A Mr. Benson, from the government shows up at the station to speak to Dave and Larry. He's investigating a payola scam and they are implicated. Mr. Hutton is ready to stand behind their reputation until Dave admits they are guilty. The story flashes back a couple of weeks to when a record producer, Mickey Mouze, shows up during the Lewis and Clarke show. Since thery are on a news break Dave and Larry decide to see the man. They can tell right away that he's cooked. He wants them to play his records in exchange for a boat and new golf clubs. They throw him out of the studio, but one of his records is left behind. They realize the record is by someone they know. It's Betty Crosby, who plays piano and sings locally. They decide to play the record and they like it. When Dave gets home he finds that Linda and Sandy like the record, too. Dave and Larry leave for a weekend of golf in Palm Springs. While there, Mickey Mouze shows show up at their motel room with drinks and dancing girls. He wants to give Dave and Larry something to thank them for playing his record. They refuse and try to get Mickey and the girls to leave. Mr. Hutton stops by to invite the boys to dinner. When Mickey mentions the record he left at the station, Mr. Hutton, not knowing about the payola, but a fan of the record, agrees to encourage Dave and Larry to play the record on the air. Finally Dave and Larry get everybody out of the room, but when they are preparing to check out the next day they find that Mickey has paid for their room and all their expenses. Back in the present day the boys explain that they didn't intend for Mickey to pay for their room, and they sent a check to Mickey to reimburse him. They have the cancelled check to prove it. Mr. Benson understands, but he has record of a portable television set being delivered to the station courtesy of Mickey Mouze. Dave and Larry know nothing about the TV. Mr. Hutton suddenly says he has to call his brother. On the phone, he asks his brother if he sent him a portable television set. When his brother denies it Mr. Hutton explains to Mr. Benson that he found the TV on his secretary's desk with a thank you note. He thought it was a gift from his brother, since his brother often sends him gifts to thank him for putting him through law school. Little did he know that he might have need of his brother's services. Mr. Benson accepts the explanation and takes the TV as evidence. Later Mickey shows up in the studio again. They boys try to throw him out, but Mickey tries to talk them into taking the sail boat and golf clubs again. Once again Dave and Larry explain that they don't want any gifts from Mickey. Mickey explains that he wasn't giving the items to them. He was trying to sell them. He lost his job with the record company, but he has a warehouse full of merchandise he has to get rid of.
