  • (After James sets Mr. Hewitt straight)
J.J: Boy, Dad, you really told that dude off. I could've never stood up to a dude like that, not even with a pair of brass knuckles.
James: Aw, Junior, I was just doing what I had to do
J.J: Naw, Dad, it's more than that. I mean, when something's wrong, you got the guts to make it right, and I don't. Dad, I'll never be the man you are. I'm proud of ya.
James: [Taking off his had and looking up to God] You hear that? Proud of ME! edit »
  • (After Mr. Hewitt refuses to pay J.J. for the mural)
Mr. Hewitt: I'm going to have that wall repainted, and I refuse to pay a cent for that junk!
James: [stopping Mr. Hewitt as he walks away] Aw now, wait a minute, Mr. Hewitt. I don't believe I heard you right.
Hewiit: I said I am not going to pay you.
James: [taking off his hat] Oh no, you gon' pay him, boushie! Now, you told me son to paint what he wanted. Now he likes it, I like it, and everybody likes it, [seeking approval from the crowd] don't everybody like it?
    [The crowd agrees]
The main thing is, my son is a fine artist. He painted it the way he saw it, so that MAKES it good!
    Hewitt: Now wait--
James: No, you wait! You know how many years it took him to know how to paint like that? Huh? You know how many hours he had to stay up doing that? Do you? Now that painting's worth ten times what you tryin' to rip him off for, and if you don't pay him, I'm gonna shove you in the night deposit box!
Hewitt: Alright. Alright, you don't have to get rough. This IS a bank. edit »
