Producer and main director, Bill Bixby plays Matt Cassidy a Boston TV news anchorman who is surprised when his station hires a female feature reporter, played by Mariette Hartley (a good friend of Bixby's) to help his sagging show, especially since she is also his new neighbor. Throughout the series her daughter, played by a young Tracey Gold, keeps trying to match them up.
