Besides Wayne Gretzky (who happened to idolize Gordie), Gordie is considered one of the best hockey players (and best right winger) ever to play in the NHL. His nickname is "Mr. Hockey" and is best known for leading the Detroit (a.k.a. "Hockeytown") Red Wings to several Stanley Cups. He held the all-time goal record for a number of years before Wayne Gretzky broke his record of 801 career goals.
