  • The confusion over Grace Park's real birthday

In January 2006, IMDb had Grace Park and Katee Sackhoff listed with the same exact birth date (same day and year). While working on the Grace Park guide, I noticed this and I noted that several other sites cited this coincidence as fact. I also noticed that neither Grace nor Katee mentioned this even once in any of their interviews (and I think I read every single interview available online at that time). You would think that they would comment on such an unusual fact at least on one occasion. Thus, I began checking. And checking. And checking.

Eventually I discovered Grace Park's real birthday, which was incorrect on IMDb. Someone over there must have been sloppy when they were adding the BSG cast and duplicated the birth date from Katee Sackhoff's guide. I submitted a correction to IMDb on January 27, 2006, using an interview with Grace to verify the new date. A few days later, IMDb corrected the information.

Apparently most other sites continued to list the incorrect birth date for Grace. She discussed the mix-up in a video interview, which was posted on the official Battlestar Galactica/Sci Fi site in the fall of 2006. Interestingly enough, she showed a screenshot of IMDb with her correct birth date and then showed several other websites with the incorrect date. She pointed out that the other sites got it wrong. The video editing implied that IMDb got it right and was the only site to get it right. Little did Sci Fi or Grace know the true story.... Yes, this is exactly how it all happened. Sadly though, I didn't get any credit for correcting the information on IMDb.

Oh well, at least I was able to make a small contribution to the accuracy of information about Grace on the Internet. If anyone from Sci Fi or the BSG production staff wants to verify this, they can check with IMDb. Maybe give me a cameo?

  • Grace Park to star in Korean gangster movie

"West 32nd" is scheduled for release sometime in 2008. It is currently in post production, according to IMDb. A Korean (or Korean-American) attorney gets caught up in the underworld of Korean gangsters in New York. (I'm not sure how realistic this is since I've never heard of a large Korean mafia in New York, but it's just a movie, I guess.) I think much of the dialogue will be in Korean.

Grace will be playing Lila Lee. She appears to be one of the main stars. Michael Kang is the director. He has directed 3 other independent films: A Waiter Tomorrow (1998), Japanese Cowboy (2000), and The Motel (2005).

The movie has a promotional MySpace page.
