Actress who plays Sharon on Sci Fi's hit says Battlestar movie has been given green light.

The Sci Fi Channel's Battlestar Galactica may currently be shooting the series' final episodes, but that doesn't mean the sci-fi hit is done for good.

In May, The Chicago Tribune unleashed a tidbit of information that made BSG fans' heads spin--there was talk behind the scenes of making up to three made-for-television movies set in the Battlestar universe. The series already had success with a pair of telefilms: the two-hour pilot and Razor, so the idea wasn't completely alien. A follow-up by The Tribune in June reported that at least one of the new movies was "looking likely."

The latest on the prospects of a BSG movie comes straight from the mouth of Grace Park, who plays Sharon in the series. Speaking with The Los Angeles Times, Park said, "I just heard about the first Battlestar movie being greenlit. A TV movie, but still!"

Apparently the news is so fresh that none of the cast's managers or agents have been contacted. Production is currently scheduled to begin in August.

As for those still reeling from the series' midseason finale, be prepared for some more mind blowing when Battlestar wraps in 2009. According to Park, "There's one episode where everything is explained and I had to read it three times," Park told the paper. "I had to sit down with [series creator] Ron Moore and he had to break it down."

The second half of Battlestar Galactica's final season is expected to air sometime early next year.

"ALL THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE AND WILL HAPPEN AGAIN" I believe this means that the human race of the 12 colonies are long dead and gone and that the current "human race" is actually the descendants of the previous cylon"skin jobs"

Jedi66 The reason Season 4 has been split is not a gimmick, it is because of a small incident at the end of 2007 can the "writer's strike", which hit every show in production at the time, including BSG. Good news on the movies...in this I trust Ron, David et al not to let us down in the manner in which JMS and the B5 team did with the Hideous "Turdspace" and "River of Wasted Time".

It's great that there seem to be more movies on the way. Perhaps they could lead to a prequel series about the original cylon war with the younger Adama and Tie. That would be great. What isn't great is this ridiculous habit of showing half the season, and then making us wait months to see the second half of the season. In the latest instance, we saw ten episodes, and have to wait at least six months before seeing the final episodes. Does this mean we are going to see another infamous season 4.0 followed by a season 4.5 when the DVD set(s) is/are released as happened with season 2 being released on DVD in two parts? Add up what you really paid for season 2.0 and season 2.5 DVD's and you'll see you spent much more than for a single DVD season. It is just a marketing gimmick. As far as I'm concerned, if you can't produce an entire season of a series, delay the release until you can. Don't keep people waiting half a year or more to see the end of a cliffhanger episode. "Oh look, we think we found Earth, but they seem to have blown themselves to Hell before we got here. How embarassing."

it's nice to see that there was "enough" story for one forced down your throat season so far and now movies too, what next? i'm glad that we are getting more bsg, but i would rather have had two great seasons rather than one average season and some movies. cheers, j

TheWompmiester, The last time somebody added movies to a sci-fi franchise because the fans wanted more we got Farscape: Peacekeeper Wars, and Serenity. Plus RDM isn't a senile old man yet.

Definitely good news to me! I want as much BSG as possible before they call it quits for good. I'm hoping the new movie will blend into the story a little better than Razor did. I'd also like to see the plot incorporate the entire main cast instead of telling the stories of individual characters or adding new ones like Razor did. Hopefully there'll be more information about it at Comic Con.

The last time somebody added movies to a sci-fi franchise because the fans wanted more we got Jar Jar Binks, so now I am very wary when producers make these sort of announcements.

I don't watch BSG, but I know how bummed you can get when they leave things unresolved. That's why the Stargate movies make me happy!!!!

Well... I'm game for anything, but I'd still rather have the second half of the season earlier than another tv movie.
