Best episode I've seen of the show so far. hide show

Finally! An episode where they don't rely entirely on WOW-type medical incidents and focus on their cast instead.

One of the things that keeps this show from rising above average is that they always have medical WOW stuff going on, like one in a million cases and rare diseases. I mean, these characters have seen more rare stuff as interns than most real doctors do during an entire career.

But in this episode they FINALLY dare to set that stuff aside and trust that the characters can hold an episode on their own. And they're smart enough to not focus the episode around their Mary Sue lead. All of Merediths subplot scenes pulled the episode to a halt and bored me. It doesn't help either that Ellen Pompeo seems to be reading off of cuecards most of the time. She talks the way some people do when they read aloud, which is different from the fluent spontaneous way you otherwise talk. Simply put, Meredith is a boring character with tedious plots and a poor actress portraying her. The less we see of her, the better.

Focusing the heart of the story on Izzie was a great idea. Katherine Heigl is a good actress, and she did a really good job throughout the three episode arc that finished in this episode. She really got to stretch her legs, as Izzie was both her normal self, completely panicked, full of guilt, extremely happy and grieving during the three episodes. Kudos both to Heigl and the writers and directors. Watching this episode for the first time a couple of years after it first aired I of course knew already how the storyline would end, but they still managed to captivate me.

It was great seeing how Bailey's interns have really formed a family now. They've referred to themselves as a family a few times before and I've always found it kind of silly, but with this episode and the two previous they come together and really seem like a family. Especially Christina and Alex were written and acted in a great way, showing believable character growth to get them to end up pulling together for Izzie.

The ending of the episode was really well done. Especially the acting performances of Katherine Heigl and Justin Chambers. It was expected, but still nice, to see Alex being the one stepping up for Izzie in the end, setting aside his own jealousy to put her needs first. I believe it was the first time we've seen him do something that really shows of love, rather than selfishness. It was really touching to see Izzy with Denny after he died, and even moreso to see Alex taking care of her. And I got a bit misty eyed when she left the hospital with Alex and George following her, which I assume was the director's way of showing that these two guys will be there for her whenever she needs them. The choice of music for this scene was also excellent.

I hope we'll get to see more episodes like this, with focus on the lead characters, giving the central cast a chance to show what they can do. Pompeo has thus far fallen flat whenever she's been given any room to show real acting ability, so I hope that the focus will fall on one of the others. Because when it comes to the cast around Pompeo, most of them are really good.

OMG I'm so addicted!! hide show

I have never seen that amount of episodes so fast ever I think! I'm totally addicted! I watched season 1 and 2 in less than a week (and I'm going to watch more just today!)..But that's not why i'm here!

So I'm gonna talk about the last 3 episodes (I watched them all in a row, not even stopping to breath!)
George and Meredith are back! Yayy! There was about time!
George is with Callie now, I'm not sure I like her, she's too much drama! And he is to little for her! lol

Noo! Meredith is hurting the vet! He is so cute, if she doesn't want, give him to me!! But I loved her and Derek back together!! I know they are not totally back together but still, they hook up!!

Denny Duquette died!! I'm so sad!! (I knew he was going to die, like I said in my blog when I was looking for some Grey's picture I saw a sopiler: first a pic of Izzie with the dress besides Denny and then I saw the pic Alex is carring Izzie, so it was spoiled!)
Izzie and Denny's relationship was soo cute! I didn't think she should have cut the wire, I was watching and saying: 'Please George, stop her!!' I think now we are going to have a fase with political and emotional problems for Izzie and I don't like that!!
Alex and Izzie were cute too! Alex loves her!! That's so sweet!

Cristina, how could she not be there for Burke? I know she is insensitive but I never thought it was that much! I'm glad everything worked out in the end!
In that part that everyone (but Alex) were 'hiding' Izzie,I didn't expect Cristina keeping the secret! That's so nice of her! She explained later, and I'm gald she is like this now!
Doc is dead too! I like him! And I didn't know dogs had bone cancer!

I can't remember anything else to talk about, I just watched the episodes but I have a big tendency to forget and mix things in a short space of time!!
Ohh and I need one of these men! They are so hot!! I want Alex or Derek or the vet or McSteamy, any of them would be fine for me! lol

One of the best finales I've ever watched in my entire life. hide show

Wow, just wow! The three-hour finale was simply breathtaking but the last hour was definitely the best, but in a different way.

The first two hours were VERY intense unlike the third hour which had a more calm feeling to it and a bigger sense of closure. Losing My Religion was definitely an episode to remember, so many storylines were coming to an end and they all did but with a bang! Izzie & Denny's relationship was the season's highlight for me and seeing Izzie lying next to Denny after his death was such a tearjerker for me... also Derek & Meredeth have some very good scenes and they are finally making progress in their relationship but I can't seem to understand Cristina's behaviour towards Burke, it was definitely weird.

Overall, it was a SPECTACULAR episode and the last five minutes alone were enough for me to give the episode a perfect score!

It always makes me cry hide show

One of the best episodes from this show.Even though it's a sad storyline during the show, this really is heartbreaking. It's clear how much Izzie loved Denny, Katherine Heigl is a great actress, and returning to the story ... Watching Izzie so happy, she was so eager to look good for him, maybe even say yes to his propsal, and then i can't imagine a more painful feeling than seeing the one you love lying alone and breathless. The songs were also chosen according to the story, they were a complete match ... And also the scene between Derek and Meredith was pretty intense, and also kinda' sad because they both have so many issues and even though they love each other so much they just can't have a normal relationship, and they are aware of that.Great episode, even though it's so sad..

The best season finale! Do you know how most of the time second season isn't that good as the first one? Well, that's not the case here! It's much, much better! I just love all the love stories going on! hide show

The end of the season two makes me want to wathc this series on even more! It's just amazing where the story is going! Finally, the long expected Meredith-Dereck reunion, even thou we don't know whether this was only a one-time thing or is Addison still the boss of Dereck. Callie and George - lovin' them! Izzy and Alex - a possible friendship, hoping for something more ( even thou I liked Denny a lot! ). Christina dissapointed me how she wasn't able to be there for Burke. And he - I just feel sorry for himself, he put a lot on stake when he started dating Christina. Chief is in a lot of trouble, but everything seems to be having a 'happilly ever after' somewhere.

  • Goof: In the scene in which Cristina is talking to the Chief about getting back her "edge," you can see that she has only one earring on. []
  • Goof: You can clearly see Denny's chest rising and falling when Izzie is lying next to him. []
  • Derek is dancing in public at the prom, even though he said to Meredith in season 1, episode 8 "Save Me" that he never dances in public. []
  • Season 2 was only supposed to have 23 episode, not 27. But since they added the 4 episode that they intended for the end of season 1, at the beginning of season 2 instead, it brought the number of episodes in season 2 to 27. The highest number for any one season so far. []
