Episode Summary

Meredith and George are experiencing morning-after tension at home and at work and it has the rest of the doctors wondering what's up. Derek and Addison are experiencing their own version of morning-after tension as a result of Mark's visit to Seattle. Bailey, returning the favor that was done for her during the Code Black situation, must treat Addison for a specific feminine problem. Izzie and Alex are making headway in their relationship until Denny Duquette comes back. Soon Alex is not-so-oddly jealous of the attention Izzie is showing to Denny. Someone finds comfort in confiding in a patient who is going through an ordeal of his own. Burke deals with a patient and gets to observe the patient's unstable relationship with his fiancée.

Excellent... that is all! hide show

I found that the writers took a wrong turn on this episode where they had Meredith get together with George. They seemed to have ruined a great friendship that Meredith and George had. Goerge is to innocent of a man to understand why Meredith did what she did and why in her mind it was okay at the time. Both embarrased at what happens they find themselfs avoiding each other throughout the whole show. We see a side of George that isn't exposed before and that is anger. Moving out is his only option at this time. The sub plots on this eposde were great. Addison deserved what she got and was so funny in it's exicution. Bailey was great in her cover up of what was really going on. It was great to see her finally take her husband and baby home. Derek needs to make up his mind as to what he wants to do. It is not fair to either Addison nor Meredith to live in this triangular struggle. Another great episode in what is turning out to be a top show.

Karma, tension and Romance. Grey's at it's best..! hide show

George delivered the quote.. Karma the stimulus for the episode.

So George and Meredith are avoiding each other after last night but everyone is oblivious to their antics.Alex is the first to discover after guessing out right to Meredith, shame George was standing there. As a result George went nuts and revealed that he and Meredith had slept together thinking everyone knew when in fact they hadn't a clue.Ultimately George fell down the stair dislocated his shoulder and met a possible future gf in the form of Callie.Geez not much happened did it..?
George made the ultimate sacrifice and moved out only to be saved by Burke much tot he dismay of Christina.

Meanwhile Addison caught poison oak much to the humour of Bailey and Derek. No gain no pain and her Karma cleared the tension between her and Derek.

Denny's back after heart failure and Izzie's smitten leaving Alex jealous and out in the cold.Denny is a good guy but somewhere along the line Izzie is going to have to decide where her heart lies..!

    Karma !
    George-centric episode ! hide show

This is the first episode that is not narrated by Meredith. George takes that position now.
George and Meredith had sex but it was hideously, disasterous and uncomfortable sexual experience.
Addison has a poison oak in her vagina and Bailey takes a moment to look out for her but normally Derek will find out about it.
A young boy with his gay fathers comes to hospital because of the head injury. The fathers were hilarious :D
Then man who is getting married has an aortic aneurysm and he has a low chance of survivng the operation. His fiance abandoned him before the surgery. What kind of people do that?
And Denny returns to the hospital and that is how it all begins...
Amazing episode and the most original since the beginning !

This episode was hilarious hide show

This was a wonderfully set up episode that since just 2 episodes ago there was the "code black" and lives were endanger this really brought it around with George screaming about having sex with Meredith in the hall way. Addison having poison oak, it was all just freaking hilarious, this is one of my most favorite episodes. There were so many good parts this is one that i replay over and over again just because of the humor. It's nice to have a strong almost jump of the couch episode like the "It's the end of the world" and "As We know it" and then go to a humorous episode. It's just how a show succeeds. Amazing.

so george has finally had mer. now can we get on with the series! hide show

my God,borrowing olivia the syph nurse's phrase, george and mer na na bad combination but am glad the wirter have gotten that out of the way, mer was crying now that was hilarious! OMG and he kept moping about the whole place being all phylosophcal, then the hysterical scene on the stair case. seriously how does poison oak compare to sleeping with my best friend? really i need help here so they're even now. the guy with the heart bla bla, i really felt sorry for him when his girl friend walked out on him and we see christina being human when she says "i guess the in sickness and in health" wasnt part of her vows, and when she told george to stop moping and stop accepting crappy things happening to him, that was really great. i like that she's friends with derek now atleast partially.

More Notes
  • Olivia: If she can’t love him back the way he loves her ... then she doesn’t deserve him.
George: You heard about me and Meredith?
Olivia: Well everyone heard. George, you were yelling about it in the hallway. (George sighs) Must've sucked. I'm sorry.
George: I'm sorry. Um- If I made you feel anything like I’m feeling right now. ... I’m sorry.
Olivia: That's nice to hear. []
  • Addison: I’m gonna show you something and when I do you do not get to laugh and you do not get to gloat.
    Derek: Why would I gloat?
Addison: I have poison oak. (Derek pulls back the curtain and sees Addison sitting there)
Derek: What? (Addison lifts up the sheet covering her legs, Derek looks) Hmm. You do indeed have poison oak. (Addison looks pissed. Derek is trying not to smile)
Addison (yells): So are we even yet? I mean is this bad enough? Have we repaid my debt to society, Derek? (Derek starts laughing. Addison throws a pillow at him, he throws it back. She too starts to laugh)
Derek (amused): Alright. Let's take a look.
    Addison: Get out! []
  • Denny: Do you believe in karma?
    Izzie: Actually I do.
Denny: I think you might be mine.
Izzie: You must have been very, very good to deserve me. []

  • Tucker (to Derek): My wife thanks you, my son thanks you, and I thank you. This is a reference to the most famous line from the 1942 biopic Yankee Doodle Dandy starring James Cagney as songwriter George M. Cohan ("You're a Grand Old Flag" et al.). The recurring line in the film is, "My mother thanks you, my father thanks you, my sister thanks you, and I thank you." This line was honored as number 97 on AFI's 100 Years...100 Movie Quotes list. []
  • Episode Title: What Have I Done To Deserve This?

This is the title of a song by the Pet Shop Boys. It was first released on their second album Actually. This may be an allusion to how both George and Meredith feel, since little seems to go smoothly in their lives during this episode. It is also a song by Dusty Springfield. []
