Where the Boys AreEpisode Number: 43 Season Num: 3 First Aired: Thursday November 9, 2006 Prod Code: 307 |
The men of Seattle Grace go on a camping trip together, Addison and Callie must team up to work on a patient, Meredith assists Sloan with a procedure unlike any she has experienced, and, suspicious of her recent actions at the hospital, Bailey confronts Cristina. A 9-year-old is seen by Cristina after he swallowed Monopoly game pieces. A pregnant 25-year-old, is brought in after she slipped in the shower. She doesn't want medicine to take away the pain from her injury so not to put her baby's growth in jeopardy. Doctors take care of Daniel, a man who wants a sexual reassignment surgery and who now goes under the name Donna. Accompanying Daniel is his wife of the past 10 years, who was surprised to see him want that surgery but, after much struggling, decided to stay by his side.

Meredith: You are a complete and total whore.
Mark: Maybe, but I'm more fun than Derek!
(edit) Sydney: I lost a kid, my first year. It was my fault, and I just couldn't— So I had a break down, they gave me time off and when I came back I put a smile on my face and everybody thought I was fine. I lost a kid. It comes in waves Izzie. There's a lull and then another wave hits you. I wasn't trying to pry. I just wanted you to know that it's ok not to be fine sometimes.
Izzie: I miss him. All the time I miss him. It's not waves, it's constant. All the time. And I walk through the doors of this hospital and I want to be here, I do, but I... I don't know if I can be a surgeon again and I can't talk about it because it scares me too much. (edit) Meredith (voiceover): As surgeons, we are trained to look for disease. Sometimes the problem is easily detected, most of the time we need to go step by step. First, probing the surface looking for any sign of trouble. Most of the time, we can't tell what's wrong with somebody by just looking at them. After all, they can look perfectly fine on the outside, while their insides tell a whole other story. (edit) Meredith (voiceover): Not all wounds are superficial. Most wounds run deeper than you can imagine. You can't see them with the naked eye. And then there are the wounds that take us by surprise. The trick with any kind of wound or disease is to dig down and find the real source of the pain - and once you've found it, try like hell to heal that sucker. (edit) Alex: So are you getting back with Callie?
George: Yes.
Alex: Trust me, man, I really don’t think you wanna do that.
George: Really?
Alex: Really.
George: I guess when I get back I’m gonna tell her that we shouldn’t see each other anymore and when she asks “why” I’m just gonna say: “Well, Alex Karev thinks that our relationship isn’t such a good idea.” You think that’ll do the trick? (edit)
Mark: Maybe, but I'm more fun than Derek!

The boy who swallows the Monopoly pieces says that he swallowed mostly houses and hotels, but he also swallowed the thimble, the race car, and the shoe. However, when Izzie is digging through his stool, she finds the dog piece. He never said he swallow the dog, so why does she find it?
(edit)
Webber: ...like the brokeback mountain thing...
The movie "Brokeback Mountain", directed by Ang Lee, talks about the tragic story about two men who love each other. (edit) Joe: You're doing some kind of crazy MacGyver surgery in the middle of the woods I want what's best for my guy.
A reference to the television show MacGyver that aired from 1985-1992. MacGyver was able to use ingenuity to fix or remedy a problem using only the tools available at hand. (edit) Episode Title: "Where the Boys Are"
"Where the Boys Are" is a song by Connie Francis. (edit)
