Harry H Corbett (from Steptoe and Son fame) stars as Grundy, a newsagent who is exaggeratedly moral and proper and is desperately fighting against the falling puritanical standards in Britain.

Lynda Baron plays Beryl Loomis (the ex wife of Grundy's wifes lover and is trying to win Grundys heart). To make matters more confusing Grundys daughter Sharon played by Julie Dawn Cole is in love with Beryl's son Murray played David Janson.

This was the last sitcom Harry H Corbett (Harold Steptoe) made before his untimely death in 1982 aged 57, three years before Wilfrid Brambell (Albert Steptoe) died in 1985 aged 72.
