Assault on the Point of No Return

Gato and Uraki engage in combat. They remain out so long that they must continually return to their flagships to refuel, but both pilots brush off their exhaustion and go on. Uraki is especially concerned about the "point of no return," the point in space after which the colony can no longer be stopped from hitting Earth. Cima arrives aboard Delaz's flagship while we see some… read more »

Show Summary

Edit Summary »

The show originally aired on Bandai Channel in Japan (which is why i labled it as "Other"). Then it was shown on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim in the US from 2/23/02 - 5/18/02.

Gundam 0083 takes place after Gundam 0080, but before Z Gundam. Three years after the end of the One Year War... more »

Now Commencing Operation Stardust hide « show »

Believe it or not, this was Adult Swim Action's first real great show. Despite Cartoon Network editing it into PG standards even though it is essentially a TV-14 show, and despite all of the hype surrounding Cowboy Bebop at the time, there is no denying that Gundam 0083 was a brilliant show. From beginning to end, the show takes off with a blast leaving viewers thirsting for more. From the insanity of the Delaz Fleet to the witty cockiness of Lieutenant Uraki, Gundam 0083 had anything a gundam fan could want, Action, Drama, Tragedy, Music. It's in my opinion the greatest gundam series out there and if Cartoon Network should ever consider returing a gundam show, Gundam 0083 is the clear cut choice.

Great mecha show in the UC continuity hide « show »

This is one of the best Gundam UC series. An OVA, it was also shown in Japanese theaters in movie form.
    Watch this Gundam for:
    1. UC Continuity
    2. Great in-space and in-colony mecha battles.
    3. Good (if frustrating) inter-character relationships.
    4. Good characters (especially Gato)
    5. More violations of the Antartic Treaty!

Overall, easily a top 5 Gundam show, better than 0080 in mecha but could be seen as less in the personal relations.

This should've never aired in the first place. They had to censor it too much. hide « show »

    Action/Mecha

    Animation - 8
Visually this series for some people might not be that impressive as other series, but then again its almost 15 years old, and it was very good for its time. The Gundam designs are great, the characters look good, and the colors are vivid.

    Story - 9
Many people usually compare this and most Gundam series with the first Gundam series and gives this series a horrible score, but luckily i missed most of the first series and i can't use it to compare. When 2 prototype Gundams are moved to an Australian Earth Federation base, Anavel Gato, a Zeon ace pilot, who disguises himself as a EF soldier and steals one of the Gundams, the one with the Bazooka that has a nuclear bomb in it. In the confusion and commotion, ensign Kou Uraki, jumped inside the other prototype to try and stop Gato from getting away with the Gundam.

    Audio - 5
The music wasnt really as good as any of the other Gundam series. Also, since it aired in Cartoon Network's Adult Swim, the long stream of insults from one character to another was completely censored so some parts of the important dialogue between all of the insults was lost.

    Characters - 7
Personally i really liked most of the characters but since the series is only 13 episodes you couldnt really get attached to anyone since there was little space for character relations/growth/development.

    Entertainment Value - 8.5
Even though its horrible audio and its poor character development, this series is very good. There is no lack of action, and the Gundam fights are amazing. I would recomend this series to Gundam fans, and its also a good way to get into Gundam if you havent seen any of the series yet.
    ---

    CN version = 7.5
    Unedited version = 7.9 (Audio gets a 7)

Best of The U.C. Saga hide « show »

The U.C. Saga had its ups and downs this one is one of the ups.

It was one of the best and well made of the Saga.

It had new cast not seen in any of the prevous or upcoming series and it was a great space filler for what happens during the time between Mobile Suit Gundam and Gundam Zeta.
