Actor John Terlesky's character Dakota was added to act as a "sidekick" to town marshal Ethan. Unfortunately, the producers also made the unfortunate decision to try to develop a romantic relationship between Dakota and Claire. The problem here is that Terlesky was 29 and actress Jenny Beck was 16 at the time of production, and the age difference made their scenes together extremely awkward and the chemistry just wasn't there.

Ethan and Amelia became engaged in an additional step to boost ratings. Unfortunately, this plotline went nowhere and by mid-season Sigrid Thornton disappeared from the series. She continued to be included in the opening titles, but wasn't present for the final six episodes. It was explained she had left town to clear her head and to decide if she really wanted to marry Ethan and take on a family. The series ended without her return and this situation was never resolved.
(edit)
PARADISE had been cancelled after it's second season, but CBS changed it's mind and decided to order more episodes for use as a mid-season replacement. The title was changed to GUNS OF PARADISE and more emphasis was placed on action.
(edit)
Beginning with this episode the show formerly known as Paradise, is retitled Guns of Paradise
