Guy married Jules Egan in May 2008 at the same Manly chapel where Nicole Kidman married Keith Urban. The couple met 13 years ago at the Assemblies of God Paradise Community Church they attended with their families in Adelaide. Guy was 13 and Jules was 15. Guests at the ceremony included Ian "Dicko" Dickson, Jennifer Hawkins, Shannon Noll, The Veronicas, Dean Geyer, and former NRL player Jason Stevens. (edit) Guy performed at the 2007 Country Music Awards. (edit) Guy proposed to his long-time girlfriend, Jules, during Christmas 2007. He proposed with a white gold ring set with 140 diamonds. Guy: (on getting married to girlfriend, Julie) We’re taking it slow. The only answer I have is that I’m not in the head space of getting married. I’d be too selfish as a husband because I’m so caught up in trying to get my stuff going. (edit) Guy: The danger of Idol is you’re suddenly propelled into stardom where people are giving you unnecessary things and girls are throwing themselves at you. You need to ground yourself with the things that are important to you. For me, that’s friends, family and the accountability I have to my fans. (edit) Guy: (asked if there is more or less pressure recording his 3rd album) I make music for the enjoyment of people, not just myself, so you’re always nervous about how it’s going to go down. But I’m certainly confident in what I’ve done. (edit) Guy: (on his 2006 CD) It’s been a long time coming - it’s a little rockier and, song-wise, I couldn’t be any happier. It has some of the best songs I’ve ever written. (edit) Guy: I dropped off the face of the earth for over 5 months, refusing press so I could make this album. People in management and my label were a little worried that the lack of exposure would cause people to forget and move on. Despite their fear I stood firm and went away in hope of making the best album I could in the time given. To come back after that time and have Out With My Baby go number 1 was an absolute delight for me. (edit)
