(edit)
This episode became infamous to fans of Happy Days (as well as the rest of American television), as they agreed that the series' quality deteriorated beginning with this episode. Thus, the phrase "jump the shark" (based upon this episode's seemingly absurd plot), which is used to describe the point when a popular television series has reached its peak, was born.
(edit)
An event in this episode was the inspiration of the noted television criticism site www.jumptheshark.com. Future Happy Days star Ted McGinley is the site's patron saint.
