At Arnold's Richie and Ralph set up a mannequin in Bert's car to scare Marsha, the waitress. She goes to the car and the mannequin's head falls off. Potsie comes up on his bicycle and tells Richie about a stag party they is invited to for his cousin, Arnold. Richie says that his Aunt Bessie is coming over that night, but he'll try to get out of it. Ralph comes up and says that the manager was mad at him for making the waitress quit. Ralph gives Richie a ride home.

At the Cunningham house, Howard is reading the newspaper when Chuck walks in dribbling his basketball. Richie comes in and asks Howard if he can go to the party. Richie begins to say what the party is for, but Howard interupts assuming that they're welcoming the returing veterans (Arnold was with the Marines in Korea). Richie says that it's a bachelor party, and Howard becomes concerned. He trusts Richie and says it's okay for him to go. Richie goes upstairs and Chuck comes back down. Chuck tells Howard, by bouncing his basketball, that he won't be there when Aunt Bessie comes.

At Arnold's Richie and Potsie drink several cartons of milk in preparation for the drinking they're going to be doing later on. Potsie says that milk is the best thing to use, but Fonzie says that olive oil is better. Potsie leaves to try to get some. Richie tells Fonzie about the party. Potsie comes back saying that they'd have to buy two salads in order to get some olive oil, so he says the can get some at the market. They leave.

At the party, there is a banner that reads "FROM HERE TO MATERNITY STARRING PFC ARNOLD DRYSDALE." Richie and Potsie arrive and are greeted by Arnold who gives them cigars. At the table, Richie and Potsie are given some adult playing cards by Duke. They stare at the cards like little kids while the others look on and laugh. Drinking games are coming up, and Potsie leaves to find some olive oil (the market was closed). He finds some in the kitchen, and he and Richie drink it. The drinking game is called "Sloppy Sixty." They have to drink one shot of beer every sixty seconds. Richie and Potsie drink to the point where they are both visibly drunk. After the game is over (20-way tie), Verna Laverne comes out of a cake and entertains. Potsie has fallen asleep, and Richie tries to wake him up. After the party, Verna gives Richie a ride home in her pickup truck (with the cake in the back of the truck). Verna walks Richie to his front door. He falls down, and Verna helps him up and into the house. Howard comes down and meets Verna. Richie invites Verna over for dinner Sunday night at 8:00. She accepts and leaves.

In his bedroom, Richie and Howard talk. Richie lies down and says the bed is doing flip-flops. He gets sick and runs to the bathroom. Howard waits outside the bathroom as Joanie comes out of her room. Joanie hears Richie moaning and wakes up Marion saying that he's sick. Richie comes out, and they see that he's a little tipsy. Richie tells Howard that he had 72 teenie-weenie glasses of beer. Howard goes to the kitchen to get some coffee. Marion is down there making it, and they talk about Marion's past drinking experiences. In the bedroom, Richie drinks some coffee. He asks Howard what his punishment is going to be, but Howard says that he's been punished enough. It's all part of growing up. Richie gives Howard a cigar. Marion comes in and kisses Richie on the forehead.

At Arnold's the next day, Potsie begins to lie to Fonzie about what happened at the party, but Richie has already told him the truth.
