    9.5 Superb

Richie tries several things to get the attention of a girl in his class. After doing a poor James Dean impersonation at her bus stop she give Richie a book on Abnomal Psyhology which concludes is his problem.

Before he goes too far it's Th hide show

One my favorite episodes, Richie shows his how confusing teenage years can be. He starts out trying to get attention of a girl and later finds out he has deep issues with growing up.

    The two stand-out scenes are:
    1) Richie and Ralph exchanges. Especially, when Ralph reveals his real thoughts of The Fonz. (Ralph: "Take Fonzie... super cool Fonzie... Him with his 'AAAAAY!' ...That's a little sicko when you get down to it!")

    2) Richie talking to himself.

In this episode also the first time we get the ideal Ralph is a little cowdardly... he reveals he sleep with the lights on.

  • Ralph: I really dig intellectual girls, especially that one. I love the way her mind fills her sweater. []
  • Marion: No one on my side of the family ever went to a psychiatrist.
Howard: Well, my side of the family is perfectly normal, Marion. I mean, they don't even have to read Dear Abby.
Marion: What about your Aunt Louise who lives in a bomb shelter?
Howard: When the big one drops, who'll be crazy then? []

Allusions

  • Ralph: What are you doing in the closet?
    Richie: Reading a book.
Ralph: In the closet? Must be Kiss Me Deadly.

Kiss Me Deadly was the sixth novel by Mickey Spillane, published in 1952. Spillane's violent mystery stories were deemed rather scandalous in the conservative 1950s. []
