Kurt Sprague just wants to live his life in peace and return home. He hires Paladin to teach him how to use a gun to rid himself and the town of Red Harper, the town bully and killer.

"Fine example"
This episode shows why the rule of law is so beneficial. Although the bad guy, Bender, is an evil doer, he must have a fair trial for the sake of the citizens of the town. The desire for vengence is overcome so only Bender faces justice for his crimes.

An early episode in which Paladin chooses to help a maiden in distress. He copes well when the worried, frighted, miserable and water soaked lady cries and cries. He treats her with kindness and humanity, proving himself a rare and wonderful hero.

Paladin must face a gunman who is his equal, or better. Neither man is in a hurry, and they become acquainted while they await the event that brought Tuttle to town. Paladin's stance when every second counts against a deadly foe is intense and scary.

Many of us prefer a pleasing vision to ordinary reality. In this episode a lady in a painting is depicted in the perfection of her youth. Others enjoy celebrating that perfection and the reality, that she has grown old, is not important to them.

In this episode Paladin appears to have a whip lashed around his neck from behind. He is jerked backward and whipped unconcious. This scene, in which Paladin is nearly killed with a whip, reveals that even a hero may die helplessly at the hands of evil.

This episode might have come from Shakespeare because everybody in it seeks the missing Celine and everybody snuffs it but Paladine - who finds the elusive Celine only to learn that all the motives (love, money, awesome treasure, revenge), were moot.
