Hawaii Five-O is now online too, at CBS.com

Copy and paste the URL into your browser to visit the CBS.com video site for Hawaii Five-O. The CBS.com site is free but there may be advertisements associated with each streaming episode. The episodes appear to be the original, uncut versions from the original broadcasts. Only Season One episodes are available, and there are only 16 from that season online. The pilot "Cocoon" isn't available either.
The video site should be viewed as a supplement to the ongoing DVD releases. The DVD sets include all the episodes from each season (with the exception of "Bored, She Hung Herself" from the Season Two DVD set).
The list of reference sites on the right-hand column of the CBS.com page includes a link to this very guide, the guide at TV.com!

UPDATE - On May 15, 2008, CBS announced that it reached an agreement to purchase CNET. TV.com is a unit of CNET Entertainment. Thus, TV.com will become a CBS-owned website if the purchase goes through. The deal is expected to be finalized later this year. Could that mean possible Hawaii Five-O episodes on TV.com itself? Maybe. Stay tuned.

The Season 3 DVD set will be released on Jan. 22, 2008
TVShowsonDVD.com reports that Jan. 22, 2008, will be the release date for the Season 3 DVD set. No word yet on any bonus features. Paramount continues with a release schedule of one season DVD set approximately every six months.
Updates will be posted on the pinned thread in the forum as they become available.

And now the Season 2 DVD set is on the way!
CBS/Paramount must have noticed how well the current Season One DVD set has been selling. As I noted before, the local Best Buy was completely sold out during the first week and the nearby Borders Books and Music only had one copy left when I checked. The set has been a popular item on Amazon.com as well.
I expect that we'll see the same quality treatment for the Season Two set as we did with the Season One set. Greatly improved visual quality, complete uncut episodes, and perhaps a few more bonus features.
Keep a lookout for the new DVD set sometime this summer. The July 31 release date may change but at least we will get the chance to get the set not long after the first one.

Thoughts on the Season One DVD set
After some difficulty, I was able to get a copy of the DVD set at a Borders Book Store on Friday, March 9. The local Best Buy was completely sold out, both in the New DVD section and in the TV DVDs section. Borders only had the one copy left.
On Thursday, the DVD set was the 16th best selling DVD set on Amazon.com. Today it's in 25th place. It's also the 3rd best-selling boxed set. Not bad for a show that ended its initial run almost 27 years ago. The better the sales are, the more likely the studio will release future seasons. So run out and pick up a copy!
The episodes have been digitally remastered. All regular episodes from Season One and the two-hour (broadcast time) pilot are included. The only special feature is the "Memories of Hawaii Five-O" special, which aired on local Hawaiian TV in 1996. But special features aren't the primary reason to get the boxed set. The episodes are.
I watched the pilot movie "Cocoon" this weekend. The picture quality is outstanding! I don't think it's quite HD but it sure looked good to me. The colors are bright and clean, the focus is sharp and crisp, the outdoor shots look excellent, and there are no visual artifacts like you sometimes see on syndication broadcasts (bits of dust, stray hairs, etc.). The studio spent some time polishing the original footage so that the show looks like it was just filmed yesterday.
In addition, the pilot appears in its original uncut version, not the two-part episodic format that aired in June 1969. Scenes that are normally cut from syndication broadcasts are included in the full version on the DVD. I believe that the regular episodes are also found in their full, uncut versions, based on the total running time of the set.
The excellent picture quality, the uncut episodes and the convenience of having the full Season One on DVD means that every enthusiastic fan of Hawaii Five-O needs to have this set. They are selling like hotcakes so keep trying if they are sold out at your local store(s).
Overall, an excellent first step in the release of the series on DVD. At least I hope it's only the first step. I'll be looking for a Season Two DVD set later this year. What do you say, Paramount?

Season One on DVD! Release date is now March 6, 2007
The Season One set will include the TV movie pilot "Cocoon" along with all 23 episodes from the first season. That's the only confirmed news so far but unconfirmed reports have stated that Paramount plans to release future seasons on a regular basis. Those "unconfirmed reports" were correct about the Season One DVD, so I'm optimistic that they are true.
The release date has been pushed back one week to March 6, 2007.
Update: The DVD set will include "Emme's Island Moments: Memories of Hawaii Five-O," a 45-minute retrospective co-hosted by Emme Tomimbang and James MacArthur. The program includes interviews with cast members, clips from the show and footage from a 1996 reunion.
Emme Tomimbang was a news reporter and TV anchor in Hawaii for 18 years. She is executive producer of "Emme's Island Moments" and the host/producer of "Emme and Friends," a weekly summer talk show on Hawaiian television.
