In this episode, con artist Jeffrey Bowman (played by Cameron Mitchell) double-crosses so many of his accomplices that he becomes the only criminal in the history of the series to ask McGarrett to "book" him. McGarrett, however, jokingly asked Danno to book him in the Season 11 episode "The Bark and the Bite."

Writer Jerome Coopersmith's title for this episode was originally "Death In A Twisted Mirror", but this was changed as there are no fatalities in the episode.

Fake Danny is played mainly by a thinly disguised James MacArthur, except in the final scene where the doubles appear with the cast. Here, Fake Danny is played by student Lowell Larson.
