Hazel Court was born in Birmingham, England. As a teenager, she worked in various stock companies in that area; then she studied acting at the London Academy of Dramatic Arts. At 18, Hazel appeared in her first movie: "Champagne Charlie" (1944). Even though it was a small part, with her beauty and talent this led to a movie contract.
She appeared in a few movies with English actor Dermot Walsh-- "Hungry Hill" (1947) and "My Sister and I" (1948). They fell in love and got married in 1949; they would divorce in 1963.
Hazel appeared in science fiction; fan favorites are the movie "Devil Girl From Mars" (1954) and Hazel's guest appearance on the c Twilight Zone episode "The Fear" (1964).
She was also known for horror movies: fan favorites are "The Curse of Frankenstein" (1957) by the British film studio Hammer, and a couple of horror spoofs by AIP: "The Raven" (1963) and "The Masque of the Red Death" (1964).
Hazel married American director/actor Don Taylor in 1964, and more-or-less retired from acting in movies, though she would do TV occasionally. She stayed married to Don Taylor until his death in 1998.
Her hobbies include: painting and sculpting.
Even though Hazel Court has not been in a movie in over 40 years (except for cameo appearance and interviews), her films keep showing up on cable, and they are fan favorites. I did the vidcap of her from "The Raven" this morning. (Feb. 18, 2005)
