In June 2008 Ned Kelly director Gregor Jordan announced a new award, the Heath Ledger Scholarship, which will be presented annually to a young Australian-based actor to help them head to Hollywood. (edit) Warner Bros released a doll with Heath's likeness based on his character as The Joker in the Batman film, The Dark Knight. The doll will be released both in Australia and America in May 2008. (edit) On January 22nd 2008, Heath tragically died. His body was discovered in his apartment in New York. Prescription drugs were found in the room. As of Feb 2nd, 2008 the cause of death has yet to be determined, with toxicology reports expected mid February. (edit) Heath and Michelle Williams split in September, 2007, after three years together. (edit) In February 2007, Heath teamed up with Ben Harper to start their own music label, called Masses Music Co. Their first act to sign to the label was Australian, Grace Woodroofe, who was a personal favorite of Heath's. (edit)

Heath: (on playing the Joker in the latest Batman movie, "The Dark Knight") He's just out of control. He has no empathy. He's a sociopath, psychotic, mass-murdering clown. And I'm just thoroughly, thoroughly enjoying it. (edit) Heath: I'm not good at future planning. I don't plan at all. I don't know what I'm doing tomorrow. I don't have a day planner and I don't have a diary. I completely live in the now, not in the past, not in the future. (edit) Heath: I'm still a kid. I'm like six years old. But it's just a matter of wanting to get up, it's just a big journey. I felt like when I left home that I was on a journey, and I still am. (edit) Heath: I'm the worst auditioner; really, really bad. I mean, you're being judged and I'm just so aware of it that it consumes me. I can't relax, I'm tied in knots, so the voice is very taut and tense. (edit) Heath (On his relationship with Michelle Williams, and the birth of their first child): My relationship with Michelle was something that slowly fell into place. We were brought together during this amazing story and our relationship began to unfold... I couldn't be more excited or happier. It's a wonderful time. I've been astonished at the profound changes that have happened in my life. I'm now going to have some time off to enjoy it all. (edit)
