The seventh chapter is more action-based rather than story-based like the previous 3 episodes. Niki is on the floor after the events of the previous episode and her fight with DL. She realises her son is taken by her husband. Talking to Tina she reveals that she is aware of some unknown presence called Jessica who surfaces everytime she needs help. Meanwhile DL and Micah meet up with Hiro and Ando when an accident occurs. DL and Hiro use their abilities to save a couple in danger. At the end of the episode Micah is revealed to have an ability (a very cool one I might add).
Lyle, Claire's brother, finds the tape with all of Claire's attempts on it and discovers that his sister is not who he thinks she is. After a chasing, Lyle gives up the tape to Claire and Zack.
Simone's father dies and she seeks comfort in Peter (Peter's estrange dream is still confusing to me along with Simone's description of a dream her father gave before he died - considering Charles Deveaux's power revealed in the fourth volume). When Isaac is found missing, Peter seeks the last painting that will uncover what needs to be done by him in order to save the cheerleader. Simone says Linderman has it.
Matt Parkman is back, involved in an investigation and he also discovers that his wife is hiding a secret. The investigation concerns a burning victim believed to have died by the hands of the infamous Sylar but Matt thinks otherwise. When both he and Audrey trace the steps of the man who killed the victim they find Ted, a person crying over a comatose woman (who is his wife) and discover that he also has an ability of his own (a very destructive one). Notice when Ted talks about his ability and mentions that his ability could cause an explosion (hint!). Also notice Matt's cool way of using his power (Matt is my favourite so any cool usage of his power will be mentioned). Meanwhile we get deeper into the Petrelli family (during a brunch) and Peter covers his brother's affair in Las Vegas and in exchange he asks his brother to find him the missing painting from Mr Linderman. Nathan lies both to his wife and his brother and he receives a call from a desperate Niki.
In conclusion this episode is very very good and is in fact a very important one. Don't miss it.
Lots of revelations and Peter gets the crucial painting. hide show
The missing painting in the sequence leading up to the death of Claire was sold by Simone to Linderman. That's not a coincidence, Linderman is important somehow.
We meet Nathan's wife, the lovely Rena Sofer, and we find out she's in a wheelchair. Angela sets up a brunch interview with a reporter and Peter walks in, confused about the 'regular' brunch that their family has. In a rather antagonistic mood given his recent conflicts with Nathan, Peter is not in a mood to play nicely with others and keeps making provocative statements. Yet Peter still saves Nathan, saying Nathan was checking out a private clinic to help Peter. I probably would have let him swing! As a side issue, Peter's alibi also saves Nathan's marriage since his innocent, trusting wife actually seems to believe Nathan's lies.
Nathan is an enigma and I hope we understand him more soon – He arranges with Linderman to get the painting which shows the name of Claire's high school and Peter dead in a pool of blood. I honestly believe he thinks he is protecting Peter, he covers the painting with black paint. Simone comes clean with Peter and has a digital image of the painting, giving Peter the info he needs and a warning about his future.
There's an interesting development with Claire – Zach 'conveniently' finds the missing tape (returned by her father) then her brother watches it and freaks. Zach's behavior outside the car was hilarious, "We're going to anal probe you!" and "YouTube is free, you idiot!" but Claire's words were touching: if their parents find out, they might think it was a mistake to adopt Claire and it would destroy their family. Very sweet and enough to make Lyle open the window and return the tape.
Major revelation: Niki's alter ego is called Jessica!
Second major revelation: Micah has powers too – can fix electronics. Plus he knows about Jessica!
Another freak encounter – DL and Micah run into Hiro and Ando at an accident site where Hiro uses his powers to save those involved, including DL. Micah recognizes Ando from his visit to Niki's house.
New character: Ted who is radioactive and makes a threatening comment about 'going nuclear' – I think we just met the reason NYC goes boom.
Excellent episode, some great scenes and since I love the Petrelli Brothers, some wonderful scenes featuring them.
There wasn't much action in this episode, but it was pretty informative. Niki leaves in this episode revealing Jessica, who Micah calls (it is also revealed that Micah's power is that he can control techology or somethng), and Jessica has a plan to get Micah back from D.L. Nathan and his wife have a plan to help Nathan win the election, and Peter unexpectedly helps by making up a story that makes Nathan look good. Claire's brother gets the tape and sees her suicide attempts, but after her desperate plea to have it back he caves and gives it to her. Matt and Audrey continue searching for Sylar, and come upon another with powers of radiation... overall this was a pretty good episode, but not the best of the series so far for me.
Peter dreams about Charles Deveaux just as Simone arrives with news about him. When Claire's parents are out of town, her brother Lyle makes a discovery about her. Niki tells Tina about Jessica, who takes over and prepares to go after Micah. Matt sees the dark side of his powers when he accidentally discovers Janice has a secret. Audrey is convinced she's located another victim of Sylar. D.L. and Micah meet Hiro and Ando and prove that they're true heroes. Matt and Audrey encounter a new evolved human, Theodore Sprague. Peter saves the day when Nathan's wife Heidi and mother Angela construct a means to help his campaign. Another brilliant episode.
