CBS unveils fall premiere dates

Kid Nation kicks things off on September 19, scripted fare to premiere the following week.

CBS fancies itself "America's most watched television network," and plans to continue that trend this fall with a steady diet of what it knows works--crime and legal dramas. The network announced its premiere dates for its fall lineup, which is dominated by slamming gavels, flashing police badges, and studious forensic scientists.

Though the majority of the Eye's premieres are centered around very mature situations (Neil Patrick Harris' antics on How I Met Your Mother an exception), CBS' fall schedule kicks off with kids. The controversial reality show Kid Nation opens the network's fall season and will premiere on Wednesday, September 19. The program follows 40 children, ages 8 to 15, as they attempt to create their own functioning society in an abandoned New Mexico "town" without parental supervision. Its inspiration, Survivor, debuts its season in China the following night at 8 p.m.

The rest of the lineup gets started at the same time NBC's scripted shows kick off--the week beginning September 23 (Fox is getting a jump on the others a week earlier). 60 Minutes, Cold Case, and Shark will tackle the post-NFL crowd on Sunday, September 23, beginning at 7 p.m.

Monday is slated as comedy night on CBS, with September 24 seeing the series premiere of The Big Bang Theory. The new show will be sandwiched between the season premieres of a pair of comedies--How I Met Your Mother and Two and a Half Men.

Cane, the new drama starring Jimmy Smits, will debut September 25, following NCIS and The Unit on the first of five consecutive crime-and-legal-drama-loaded nights on the network.

Other series premieres include the immortal-cop drama Moonlight on September 28 at 9 p.m., and Viva Laughlin--one of CBS' few risks--on October 18 at 10 p.m. in a special preview and October 21 in its regular time slot.

The Unit!!! The Unit!!! The Unit!!! The Unit!!! The Unit!!! The Unit!!! The Unit!!! The Unit!!! It seems the writers have boxed themselves into a corner at the end of season two. I hope they get this series back on track with The Unit, including Bob, back in action saving the world. I sure wouldn't mind seeing W. H. Macy reprise his role as The President -- seems The Unit could really use the help

Of course they keep that stupid show with that stupid "actress" Jennifer Love Hewitt. Cancel a good show like Close To Home and keep her dumb a$$ around. CBS sucks!

Posted 07/22/2007 4:27am
I can't wait for CSI and CSI:NY to come back, but why did they renew CSI:Miami, that has to be the weakest out of the three.
Posted 07/21/2007 10:58pm
YAY!! NCIS is the only real one that I am excited for.
Posted 07/21/2007 7:47pm

Posted 07/20/2007 8:51am
Can't wait for Two And A Half Men!!! Only 2 networks left, The CW and ABC.
Posted 07/19/2007 9:50pm
Why should I watch Kid Nation, when I see the exact same thing everytime I go to the mall? Tons of kids left on their own with no adult supervision!! Dumb-asses...

And where the heck is Jericho? After the killed off 'The Class' I was really disappointed in CBS, but at least they have Mother & 2.5 Men.
Posted 07/19/2007 8:02pm
As much as ABC disappointed me last season. I will still watch that network the most followed by FOX. I am not sure if I will watch Cane or not. I will watch How I Met Your Mother though.

Posted 07/19/2007 11:17am
OMFG, I hate the CSIs so much. CSI Miami is the worst. The plot sucks, the acting sucks, and apparently the characters have superpowers. Why des CBS keep bringing it back?!
Posted 07/19/2007 10:45am
23 and 27 for Shark and CSI, good!
Posted 07/19/2007 6:27am
Ay! Another Survivor!

I can't wait for Jericho! I don't care if it's mid-season! As long as it comes back!
Posted 07/19/2007 5:48am
Isnt there enough Survivors. But I do like Cold Case, Ghost Whisperer & CSI Miami. I wounder when Jericho is coming back.
Posted 07/19/2007 5:07am
The only new show I'm interested in is Moonlight, I know one thing for sure I won't be watching Kid Nation.
Posted 07/19/2007 3:47am
Jericho will come later (I believe mid-season replacement), you'll have to check the Jericho board for more detailed info.
Not very much interesting. With HIMYM I still have to watch season 2, and besides that only CSI Season 8 (8!, can you believe it?) and perhaps Cane and Shark are worth watching.
Posted 07/19/2007 2:03am
I want my Jericho!! All the other shows suck to me.
Posted 07/19/2007 12:24am
Am I missing something? Where is Jericho?
Posted 07/18/2007 11:33pm
NCIS, CSI and Numb3rs back, I'll finally have decent tv to watch!! Thank god for CBS!
Posted 07/18/2007 11:06pm
Definately can't wait until my shows Criminal Minds and NCIS come back
