  • Fox gives Human Target the Kiss of Death - Friday night time slot.

I read on the TV.com front page that Human Target was moved to Friday night. Has any show since the X-Files survived a Friday time slot? Sad.

  • Chance speaking Russian (Embassy Row)

(Hope it's okay to set up a new thread for this, i'm hoping there will be more of Chance speaking Russian in further eps so i didn't want to limit this to the Embassy Row thread.) Anyway, hi all! I am learning Russian and was interested to hear Chance speak the language. What struckMore me though, was that he pronounced the Russian word for 'her'as 'eh-yoo' rather than the correct 'eh-yoh' sound. And he pronounced the Russian word for 'she' by saying 'ona' rather than the correct 'ana'. I am wondering two things. One is whether i am actually wrong about this (being as i am certainly not experienced with Russian, just a learner), or whether there is some colloquial version of Russian that has those words pronounced in that fashion, and this is the version Chance learnt. And second, if i am right, i am wondering whether this was a mistake by the shows producers, or whether they actually intended to have Chance speak bad Russian. The only thing is, if Chance learnt Russian to fluency, the second mistake (pronouncing 'ana' as 'ona' ) is not really the kind of mistake he'd make. It's a general pronounciation rule and he'd be pronouncing so many things wrong that someone would notice early on in his learning. Can anyone shed any light? Anyone have better knowledge of Russian than me and able to confirm what i think he said wrong, or reveal that i'm wrong and Chance was speaking correctly? Hope so, i'm intrigued! :)

  • Katherine Isn't Dead (spoilers)

I'm going to put my chips on the table here and say that I'm pretty confident Katherine is not dead. *Spoliers ahead* obviously. NOTE: I haven't read the comic book - I don't know what, if anything, the comic has to say about her, even if it does say something, FOX won't necessarily do itMore the same way... What do we know about Katherine's death? Let's lay it out and speculate. 1) We've seen the gravestone . What does this prove? Only that a service was held. In an explosion of that magnitude, especially over water, there is rarely anything left of the victim to bury . There is also a chance that there's nothing left to identify the victim . The gravestone is only circumstantial , and until someone in the show exhumes the body or makes some comment about "DNA" or "dental records," it proves nothing. 2) We do not see Katherine die on-screen. I cannot stress enough how important a clue that is when dealing with adventure stories like this one. Since we didn't see her quite plainly get shot through the heart, bleed out and die in Chance's arms, you'd better believe there's a good chance she's not really dead. The producers chose not to have that kind of a death scene, instead opting for something much more indirect, like a bomb. There's a reason for that. We only know she was on the boat at the time we saw Baptiste monitoring her from his car - she is crouched down next to the left-hand seat, in front of the steering column. Take a look if you have the episode recorded, in my version the timestamp for this shot is 0:30:55. When we later see the boat explode at timestamp 0:34:50, we do not see her crouching there. It's possible that she is crouched very low, but assuming she is still in the same position as the previous shot, based on the geometry we would at least see the back of her head/hair. That's a full four minutes in which we have no proof she's still on the boat. 3) Katherine was fully aware of the danger she was in , both in general and specifically on that boat, away from Chance. We know from the panning camera shot during the explosion that the fight between Baptiste and Chance was in eyesight of the boat. It's possible Katherine would have seen that fight, realized the danger was too close for comfort, and-- 3a) --moved to hide/run elsewhere, or-- 3b) -- she had every reason to dive in after the sinking case . We know from that same panning shot that she would have seen the case with the book fall in. She also knows how important that item is to her survival. So this, I feel, is most likely, also because it would tie in nicely with the story. I believed Chance doesn't know where the book is when he says so to "the Client." Had Winston known, as "the Client" suggests, he probably would have told Chance. We know that the case is not at the bottom of that river, as "the Client" assures us he dredged the whole thing for miles. Someone must have gotten that case. 4) She could have easily assumed Chance didn't make it out of that fight. Knives were thrown, shots were fired, bombs went off. We also know that was the point at which Chance took on his new alias/profession . That would explain why she didn't, or couldn't, contact him for six years running. This likely means that during the hunt for the book, either Katherine herself will appear in the show or at least we'll get a couple hints that she may not be as dead as Chance thought. That's my bet. Hopefully the show returns and we get to find out. I'd be interested to hear what other people think. EDIT: I know this has already been suggested elsewhere in the forum. I'm not trying to take credit for the idea, I just felt it was worth a more detailed analysis, as well as its own topic, considering its a story-wide issue, not just an episodic one.

Excellent show!!! A made for TV series of "The Bodyguard" with action at least and NO singing - thank heaven!!! hide show

In short, a hired assassin with a change of heart. Now undertakes the task of protection instead of deletion! Christopher Chance and his colleagues from his previous life have a change of heart and make a few pounds at the same time. Hired to protect (or rather to become the target instead of the intended target) instead of hired to delete. Great story line with action a bit of heart and good feelings to rival "the Pollyanna Syndrome". All in all a feel good show with worthy adversaries, good plot (although some might be corny but then again as Kate Winslet said in The Holidays "I need a bit of corny in my life."!!!

This show is phenomenal. hide show

I have watched every episode religously and am greatly pleased to know that Fox has given it a another shot... Can't wait for season 2. Chance's bravery and heroics, Guerrero's attitude and sarcasm and of course Winston's stoicism and inner strength to keep the other 2 in check. simply enjoyable TV, awesome escsapism. Way to go cast, crew and writers! keep up the great work and i'll keep on tuning in, guaranteed! To finally see 'WHO' the old man was at the end of season 1 was a shocker to say the least. Crazy action sequences mixed with just enough seriousness and humor make this show a keeper!

Human Target is a great new show! Exciting, funny, good story line, and chemistry between the actors. Sure hope FOX keeps this one around for a few years. hide show

My husband and I have been watching Human Target every week, and we really enjoy it and look forward to it. We have told others about it too, and they're now watching. The show is just chock full of excitement, fight scenes, romance, humor, chemistry -- great writing. Take a "chance" on Chance, he is one smooth, smart, cute, funny, fantastic fighting dude!!! Lets hope FOX doesn't just pull this one as so many shows do get pulled these days, without a 'chance'. They just need a bit of time for people to latch on to them. I'm tired of getting to like a show only for it to be pulled. Love these characters!!

    8.5 Great

A fun romp of a show with entertaining characters, MacGyver-esque escapes, and lots of edge-of-your seat action scenes. hide show

Each episode, the bad-guys-turned-good are hired to save someone. Of course, nothing goes right, they have all sorts of close calls, the sensible Winston has to rope in his partners, while Guerrero drives him batty, and then there's the happy final scene in the offices when all ends well. The show only has three regulars in each episode, but they are building up a few others who "drop in" for the occasional episode. It's not to be taken seriously, just good a good Diehard-like action movie each week, with a few more fights and cleaner language of course!

    Hope Fox keeps this one...
