    I always had a question about this but always forget to ask, and when I saw "The Black Eye" today it reminded me..

    There are a few episodes after Lucy has her baby where Ethel will come in and talk to Ricky, and Fred may be there too, and then Lucy gets added on later on to explain something that happened before she had her baby. "The Black Eye" and "Sales Resistance" are 2 off the top of my head that did this. Did they record these episodes before Lucy had her baby so that she could take time off w/ her real child and they wouldnt be without Lucy episodes or did that have nothing to do with it ? Because Lucy didnt look pregnant in those episodes, so it wouldve been recorded LONG before, or like I said have nothing to do with it. Just wondering if anyone knew..

    Yes. When Lucy found out she was pregnant, they taped several episodes before she started showing, to use during her maternity leave. Once she was showing they taped the pregnancy episodes. Then Desi, Vivian, and William simply taped a short scene explaining that Lucy was still in the hospital, or elsewhere with the baby, and the episodes taped in advance were added on.

    Yeah, I figured it was something like this once I posted up the thread but just decided to keep it lol. Thanks though. So then the episodes where they "flashbacked" to something that happened WITH lucy there, was taped before hand, so if there was a live audience watching this episode, they will see the beginning scene with R, F and E and then see a taped episode containing Lucy?
