- Mrs. Mcbride:Whats wrong?
Marshall: Whats wrong is I told Warren he has 1 opportunity to practice medicine at the clinic, period.
Mrs Mcbride: I know but you need to understand that Warren is not inclined to let people tell him what he can and cannot do.
Marshall: And Warren needs to understand that I could give a rat's ass about his inclinations! edit »
- "On the down low
When Mary is scrambling to come up with a cover story as to why she is registering the girls for school, she mentions that she is their aunt, having been married to their father's brother. In response to the girls' laughter Mary says that her husband was "on the down low." This is slang for a seemingly straight man who is a closeted homosexual. edit » - Four Horsemen
Raphael: (to Mary while he's looking up to the sky) I don't see the four horsemen.
He's making reference to The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse that are mentioned in the Bible in chapter six of the Book of Revelation, which predicts that they will ride during the Apocalypse. The four horsemen are traditionally named War, Famine, Pestilence, and Death. However, the Bible actually only names one: Death. edit » - The episode's title is a reference to the 1974 film Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore, starring Ellen Burstyn and Kris Kristofferson. It was later spun off into the TV sitcom Alice. edit »
