Mary and Marshall take on a case involving Horst Vanderhoff, an agent for Lola, who's an assassin for hire. While trying to line up her next job, Horst is busted and agrees to testify against her to become a part of the Witness Protection Program.
Marshall considers leaving; A con-artist is being moved. hide show
It's always good to see Dave Foley pop up, but this really was not the right role for him. He's too goofy to play a gang's kingpin and although he contributed some hilarious moments to this episode, it probably should have been somebody else.
I also have to question the decision to have the idea of Marshall leaving so early in the series. We knew he was not going to, but this was only the fourth episode, and that is not enough time to build the relationship between Marshall and Mary so that this meant something.
This was still a fun episode, outside of the lame ending, but these faults brought my score down just a bit.
Mary and Marshall must pick up a witness who is being incarcerated in a prison just north of Albuquerque and South of Santa Fe and take him back to Albuquerque. Marshall is looking at taking another job and Mary is very unhappy with him as well. hide show
Another great guest starring role this time from David Foley playing Horst the supposed go between for the contract killer Lola. Of course the twist is he is Lola or Lola is he...
Mary and Marshall are a little distracted by the fact that Marshall is looking at another job and he didn't confide in Mary. They get ambushed and their car becomes incapacitated. An excellent shootout takes place between the Marshall's and two of Horst's shooters. Great action sequence very well done.
Marshall gets shot and saves Mary's life when her clip runs out. The two show a great deal of bravery in the line of duty showing down the pro-shooters that are after them. The rest of the episode deals with Mary figuring out a way to save Marshall, get them out of the situation, and still capturing the whole gang. Her character shows great instinct and a good understanding of the criminal psychology.
I want to mention Paul Ben-Victor who plays Stan, Mary's and Marshall's boss. He does an excellent job weighing his obvious feelings for Mary and making sure the job gets done. He handles this part in an amusing enjoyable way. I enjoy his character in each of the episodes so far.
Another great episode well written and thought out. Cell phones don't work in many of the hilly desert areas. I live in such a area and can actually vouch for that. Even on the main highways there are some gray areas that get no reception. Such is the area of New Mexico they were traveling in.
Thanks for reading...
In this episode of In Plain Sight, the following happens. We see Mary and her partner, Marshall transporting a witness. Their car, brakes down and soon 2 shooters are shooting at the car. Marshall takes a hit, but still manages to keep on shooting. They manage to chase away the shoots and then he collapses. Marshall soon remembers that the couple were the same ones, who were at the gas station, when they stopped to use the rest room. When manage to make it to an abandoned building but soon realise that Lola will have someone else coming after them and soon. Lola is the person who the witness is suppose to testify against. Soon the assassins turn up at the building with more people, to take out the witness. Mary soon discovered that the witness has a GPS tracking device on him. So Mary makes a deal with the bad guys so trades the witness for a car, for her and Marshall to escape. They put a call in to the FBI and have an ambulance waiting for them. Luckily Mary planted a cell phone on the witness and it has a tracker on it and so they manage to get him back and the bad guys who were with him. Mary then heads to the hospital, waiting on word on how Marshall is. Her mother and sister met her there and Mary breaks down in tears.
Tricky, Impeccable, Comedic hide show
First off, how can anyone not like a show that has an episode that has Dave Foley as a guest star. This was such a special episode, and Foley made it so. I relished the storyline and enjoyed the twist at the end. The comedic timing in this show is impeccable. In Plain Sight just keeps getting better and better in my opinion. I have yet to see a lackluster episode of this show. The creaters and the writers certainly know what they're doing ... If you as me ... they have a complete hit on their hands. I loved the way the episode ended, finding out that Dave's character (Horst Vanderhoff) was Lola the whole time. Amazing!!!
Wonderful episode but felt out of place. hide show
Was this episode meant to be later in the season? Although it was great and had intense emotional scenes, it doesn't fit with the episodes before and after. It seems Mary and Marshal are friends, then almost in love in this episode, then back to friends the next. This felt like a season finale episode with the character development, relationship, and the cliff-hanger situation of Marshal being shot and Mary's reaction in the hospital. Wonderful episode but it could and should have been placed differently in the season. Great series so far. Her family is sadly funny. Keep it up.
