He is married to award winning screenwriter Erin Cressida Wilson who wrote Secretary starring Maggie Gyllenhall and James Spader and the up-and-coming Fur starring Nicole Kidman and Robert Downey Jr. They have a two year old son and live in New York, Los Angeles and Providence, RI, where Ms. Wilson also teaches at Brown University.

Mr. MacKenzie stars in the up-and-coming The Return starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, produced by Focus Features and scheduled for release in September of 2006. Mr. MacKenzie also stars in the Lifetime movie Gospel Of Deceit which will air in April around Easter.

He has just completed his second film for directing legend Martin Scorsese. The film is The Departed; it is scheduled for release in December of 2006. Mr. MacKenzie played Cate Blanchett's ex-husband "Ludlow Ogden Smith" in Scorsese's The Aviator which won the Golden Globe for best picture and five Academy awards in 2004.
