- King George III was in fact known as "Mad King George", who displayed aberrant behavior beginning in the late 1780's (it has been recently put forward that he suffered from 'porphyria', whose symptoms can include mental problems) and eventually dethroned (1811) because of it. His symptoms came and went over the last half of his life, so he had 'mad' and 'sane' periods. edit »
