Real Deal SEALEpisode Number: 108 Season Num: 5 First Aired: Tuesday May 9, 2000 Prod Code: 523 |
Lt. Curtis Rivers (Montel Williams), a Medal of Honor-winning Navy SEAL, is court-martialed for punching a Congressional candidate who falsely claims to be a Navy SEAL. Rivers explains that he is on a crusade to expose Navy SEAL impostors.
In order to prove his point to Harm, who is assigned to defend him, Rivers places him in the center of a dangerous plot to expose another false SEAL. Though Rivers assures Harm that his safety is in the hands of two legitimate former SEALS, he finds himself alone in court when Harm misses the trial to pursue a lead on the would-be assassin.

Lt. Rivers: If you want to assist me with the legal mumbo-jumbo, I wouldn't kick you out of court.
Harm: Sit second chair to you?
Lt. Rivers: Couldn't lose, Commander. I have a fool as a client and a washed up pilot as co-counsel. I'm not worried about this. (edit) Harm: Mr. Layton opened the door, ma'am, when he volunteered information about serving in-country. It goes to credibility.
Cmdr. Amy Helfman: The door is indeed open and the horse has departed the barn. Objection overruled. (edit) Mac: I hope you're not involved in one of Curtis Rivers' crazy schemes.
Harm: You know me better than that, Mac. Come on. (edit) Cmdr. Amy Helfman: Counsel -- and that seems to include the defendant. Please approach. (Harm, Mac, and Rivers approach the bench) Lieutentant Rivers do you think Commander Rabb could perform the duties of a Navy Seal?
Lieutentant River: Maybe on weekends, Ma'am. (edit) Vic Velasco: Take it easy Commander. A phony seal ever set foot in here we'd spear his skull with cue stick and use his eye balls as cocktail olives.
Pops Munchak: You got to excuse Velasco. He's got a steel plate in his head.
Vic Velasco: It's a plate, screws. Four metal screws.
Pops Munchak: And they're all loose.
Vic Velasco: Well at least I've got an excuse.
Pops Munchak: An excuse for what?
Vic Velasco: Forgetfulness, Grandpa. (edit)

Lt. Rivers calls Bill Layton "Rambo," an ironic reference to Sylvester Stallone's famous action movie character. Unlike John Rambo, Bill Layton did not see any action in Vietnam, and Lt. Rivers knows it.
