James Cromwell returned to the big screen again in May 2007 as Captain Stacy in Spiderman 3. He plays the father of Gwen Stacy, a 'sort of' love interest for Peter Parker.

He founded Hecel Oyakapi, which is Lakota for "they do it this way". The non-profit organization's mission is to have a teaching and theater facility, so the Lakota people could tell their story and culture through the arts. It also helps Lakota students.
