Born in Bossier City, Louisiana on December 26, 1971, Jared Leto lived a transient childhood thanks to his mother, who moved him and his brother Shannon to Haiti and then to a Colorado commune (and to some spots in between). The multitalented Leto initially enrolled at Philadelphia's University of the Arts because he wished to be a painter, but transferred to New York City's School of Visual Arts after becoming passionate about acting. In 1992, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. Two years later, he landed a role as the object of Claire Danes' affection on the cult hit teenage drama, My So-Called Life. As millions of girls began hanging Jared Leto posters on their walls, he starred in his first film, 1995's How to Make an American Quilt. In 1998, he finally got some serious recognition in film, having impressed his fellow cast members in The Thin Red Line and Urban Legend. Leto's penchant for starring in critically-acclaimed movies became apparent after supporting roles in 1999's Girl, Interrupted and Fight Club, and 2000's American Psycho. Though he was passed up for the lead role in the latter, Leto earned a starring spot as a heroin addict in 2000's disturbing, much-lauded flick, Requiem for a Dream. After more supporting roles in 2002's Panic Room and 2004's Alexander, during which time he also pursued his musical talents with the group 30 Seconds to Mars, Leto returns to the big screen in Lord of War (2005), Lonely Hearts (2006) and Chapter 27 (2007). Where to start when someone says rate Jared Leto. God its pretty hard for someone like me who is a big fan not only music wise but also TV and movie wise. I do think he has more potential to do big movies but he put Music on number one and I love that. ...Continue »
He and his band are the best thing that ever happened to the music industry because they show that you can still rock and be who you want to be and have people adore you're music. On stage he has this energy you can feel. Even when you are back home and checking his fan site and you watch pictures of him doing a show and he just smiles, runs around having such a blast up there. People singing along with his lyrics, people adoring him, almost dying when he touches them because he jumped in the audience again. He does not only just jump into the audience he did this show where he walked all the way to the back of the crowd. They normally only see a little blow on stage jumping around but him just walking up to the back so that they can also see him is just great. What I do dislike though is that some fans just pull him down. They want to touch him so bad that they pull and push which will make him realize sooner of later that he has to stop going into the audience and that will be such a bust for everyone who really loves him to throw himself at them. Haha, but okay to continue on Jared Leto and his great ways. I think that he is one of the most funniest people ever, in interviews he tents to be a jerk, but if he comes for his music they want to ask him about his movies and when it come to his movies they want to talk about his music. Jared made it pretty clear he wants to keep them separated. That's why he always takes the band with him when people want to interview him about his music. I think that the interviewers do need to pay some attention to the rest of the band because sometimes they only talk to Jared which frustrates loads of girl back home who adore Shannon and Tomo as well. So the thing is that I love Jared, not only because of his good looks, he is funny, has a great mind, knows how to entertain people. He is just great in so many ways. How can you hate him?

i really do not know him as an actor, but i think his singing is so good. He has an awesome voice, great lungs, and screams as far as naturally possible. He also wrote most of the songs on his bands second CD, A beautiful Lie, and they have really good words, and meaning. My brother is in love with him, and i guess that proves how cool Jared Leto is. His band openend my world to the Alternative Rock world when i first hear 'The Kill', and i love that song, and it is my second favorite song ever. i think his band is really great!

I think that he is very talented but also needs
A breakout role to demonstrate those talents. Don't know why Hollywood is giving him co-star roles. But I guess, that is where he is suited at. But hopefully, he will breakout and become a star if that's what he wants. Never heard him sing but would love to.

Could it possibly get any sweeter than that! He can sing to the extent of lung compacity! I just love his music and should have known he would be famous for his voice. He used to sing a bit in the show My so called life with Claire danes. The show was great! It was like the flip side to what teens actually go through in school and life at that age. Why it got cancelled is beyond me! It had limitless talet on it and I loved Rayanne! She was crazy weird with style and charisma! I loved the show and still watch it at times on The N! Though you have to watch Jared perform! He plays the popular guy all the girls love! But if you cant then please look up his band. Its amazing and their music videos are like mini movies! This one can sing so nice! I love the music as i love Jared! Please check him out! Youll absolutely love the guy!

I am going to base this review based solely on Jared Leto's acting ability (and not on his music "talent"). Taking a look at his filmography, you realize that the man has been in some really terrific movies in a variety of roles. Leto is a decent actor, but I feel as though there is some originality missing whenever he gets on the set.
