According to Tom Wolfe's book and the movie based The Right Stuff, she supposedly performed for the Mercury Seven astronauts at the Houston Astrodome. (edit) The World Hunger Shindig is in reference to BandAid which was a concert to raise awareness of world hunger in 1986, by Bob Geldoff of the Boomtown Rats, a British rock band.
