Johnston (listening to Gray speak to the town): There’s a way of doing this without scaring the crap out of everybody.
Gail: He was elected. Means he’s gonna do it his way.
Johnston: Ahhh, I’m gonna need a hobby. (edit) Jake (looking at map): Federal government? But, there are six stars up there. Where’s the president?
Mike: Which one? (edit) Gail: To be honest, I have difficulty understanding how many ways I dislike you. (picks up paper)
Mary: You made a list? (edit) Samuel: Dad, we’re out of the good toothpaste.
Hawkins: Oh, well here’s the new stuff Mr. Daly made. (hands him baggie filled with powder)
Samuel: This isn’t toothpaste.
Hawkins: Yes, it is.
Samuel: Are you playing a joke on me? (edit) Heather (to Jake): I shouldn't have sprung this on you. This is too weird.
Jake: What? What's weird?
Heather: Okay...I kissed you...a month ago. We haven't spoken since. Generally people speak after something like that.
Johnston: I'm just gonna...you know...uh... (walks away) (edit)

The map of the United States has the following US cities marked in red, as well as the nuked cities already known: Pittsburgh PA, Houston TX, Miami Fl, and Everette WA, Boston MA, Hartford CT, Miami FL, Los Angeles CA, San Francisco CA, Phoenix AZ, Charlotte NC, and Baltimore MD. There is red mark in Southern Utah, but there is no major population center near there. Possibly the bomb failed to reach its destination. (Maybe Salt Lake City to the north or Las Vegas to southwest)
In all there are 22 red marks. (edit) Goof: In the final scene of the episode, Sarah's keystrokes clearly do not match the words appearing on-screen. (edit) News posted on the giant news message board at the Black Jack trading post.

The morse code at the beginning of Black Jack, "Bleeding KS", along with the reports under the big US map concerning the killings on nearby highways, alludes to the murder, mayhem, destruction in Eastern Kansas and Western Missouri between 1854 and 1861.
(edit)
At the Black Jack trading post, just before Jake, Johnston, Dale and Heather read the gigantic news board, off to their left in the background are bulletin boards with photos and messages of people who are presumably missing since the bombings. This is similar to the boards posted by families of the 9-11 World Trade Center attack.

Carter Administration
James Earl "Jimmy" Carter, Jr. (born October 1, 1924) was the 39th President of the United States from 1977 to 1981
Johnston: Son, I’m 59 years old. I’ve been Mayor of this town since the Carter Administration. Mayor Green was the Mayor from at least 1981 to Jericho present. (edit) EBAY
eBay Inc. (EBAY) is an American Internet company that manages ebay.com, an online auction and shopping website where people and businesses buy and sell goods and services worldwide.
Dale: It’s like ebay. (A man gets hit with a stick) Heather: Not like ebay. (edit) The episode name Black Jack, along with the preview clip featuring a hanged criminal, may be a reference to the 1901 hanging of Tom "Black Jack" Ketchum. His hanging is remembered more than most because his head snapped off due to an inexperienced hang man. (edit)
