The morse code at the beginning of Black Jack, "Bleeding KS", along with the reports under the big US map concerning the killings on nearby highways, alludes to the murder, mayhem, destruction in Eastern Kansas and Western Missouri between 1854 and 1861. (edit) At the Black Jack trading post, just before Jake, Johnston, Dale and Heather read the gigantic news board, off to their left in the background are bulletin boards with photos and messages of people who are presumably missing since the bombings.
