This sitcom is about the fictional host of a TV talk show originating in New York. Each episode deals with events in his personal and professional life as a celebrity.

The CHARACTERS include
Joey Barnes: a night club comedian and host of the Joey Barnes Show, a talk show.
Ellie Barnes: his wife
Freddy: Joey's agent/writer/manager in the first season
Larry Corbett: Joey's new agent/writer/manager in the second season.
Hilda: Joey's maid, who says she dislikes his TV show even though she doesn't, but would never tell him.

Ellie Barnes: Ellie Barnes married Joey Barnes on September 15 1962 and is very jealous of him. Ellie is born and raised in Texas, and is often homesick for Texas. She is a feminist and once went on Joey's TV show and represents women in politics.
Ellie hired Hilda to be the Barnes' maid.
Before she married Joey, Ellie was a model, and once went back to modeling without telling Joey.
Ellie and joey had a baby boy on May 11 1963 named Joey Barnes jr. and a baby girl on March 23 1965.

Freddy: Freddy is Joe Barnes' writer/agent/manager and the two have been good friends since they were children. Freddy is single and always notices a pretty female. With a serious personality, often imitating animals and famous people, while also occasionally cracking jokes. freddy eat meals often with Joey and Ellie even thogh he was not invited but was expected anyway. Freddy unexpectedly leaves without warning or explanation in early 1963, never to be seen again.

Larry Corbett: Larry Corbett is joey Barnes' writer/agent/manager and the two have been good friends for years. Like Freddy, Larry was also looking for a pretty girl. Joey and Ellie often have Larry over for the daily meals. Larry makes jokes all the time in a quite and serious manner. He once considered marriage to Liz, a friend of Ellie's, but the relationship ends after some bad advice from Joey and Ellie.

Mr. J.J. Jillson: Mr Jillson, more commenly called the superintendant of the Carlton Arms apartment in wich The Barnes'
lives.He and his wife Mrs jillson live in the basement of the Carlton Arms apartment building, where he is always on call to fix things. Mr jillson talks about his wife constantly like he dislikes her but deep down he really loves her. Mrs Jillson is constantly screaming at Mr Jillson throgh the ventilator from their apartment to the Barnes', startling him. Mr jillson win contests and has many types of animals in his apartment. He also loves cinnamon rolls that he can't pronounce.

Hilda, the maid: Hilda is hired by Ellie to be the Barnes' maid She later also bbecomes joey Jr. nanny. She and joey makes jokes at each other alot like they dislike each other, even though they like each a whole lot. There was never a reference to her last name or personal life.

Joey Barnes Jr.: Is the son of Joey and Ellie Barnes. He was born on May 11 1963.less «

  The last surviving member of the Rat Pack, Joey Bishop, died today, 10/17/07, at the age of 89. He now joins Frank Sinatra, Peter Lawford, Dean Marrtin, and Sammy Davis Jr. I never knew a lot about him, but I knew who he was when I was a child, mainly from his late night talk show of the late 1960s, and I used to think I was named after him. In the late 1990s TV Land aired reruns of the sitcom, and I found it interesting, like The Dick Van Dyke Show and The Danny Thomas Show. He was a great entertainer and will be missed. less «
